Oh Nad, i think that's lovely. I would love to do that, only if the children are well behaved! My LO is so demanding, cries if I leave the room just for a second to go for a wee! Cant imagine looking after 2 or 3 little ones like that!!
I've decided that enough is enough, I'm not keeping on top of the housework so I'm going to get someone in to do my ironing. I know its not MSE but the house is closing in on me. My mum offers to help but she works full time and her health isn't that great recently. My OH is so stressed at work and he commutes hr and a half each way.
As I'm typing this i'm thinking I need to spend less time on this forum too, this is what i do with my free time, should I be doing the ironing myself? Naah, this forum is my therapy :rotfl:

lwcus - if my OH had to wear suits for work I would most deff be paying someone else to iron them, I literally iron about twice a year :o thats only because my standard 'going out' top is cotton linen type thing that has to be ironed and OH would need a shirt for same reason :rotfl:

OH has said he will "get me a cleaner" once bubs is here - apparently being a mum of 1 is no excuse for not keeping the house clean n tidy but mum of 2 having a cleaner is ok  whatever I'll have a cleaner if I can find one I like (could be a tall order as I'm pretty fussy seeing as they'll be allowed in my bedroom etc)

  • Hiya Ladies,

I'm still here and reading! It's just making time to post as well that is the problem, I am sure Benjamin's ears are linked to my keyboard, the moment I start to type he wakes!

Re: childminders - keep looking until you find one that feels right. My mum was a childminder for years and the best ones are the ones that love your kids like their own family. IMHO the child needs to be right for the childminder as well as the other way around. If the childminder takes to you and your child then you are on to a winner, you should feel a rapport. It is a job, but it is a special type of job that is done best when there is a lot of love involved.
God that doesn't even make sense to me reading it back!!! But if you have reservations keep looking.

Benjamin had an appointment with a physio at Birmingham Childrens Hospital yesterday to see if the 'damage' to his arm was done as a result of the delivery and the conclusion was that it is highly unlikely (thank god - I am sure I would have blamed myself for not being up to delivering him properly if it was because of the forceps).
The way he was holding his hand was most likely due to 'moulding' - the way he was inside me. He still does sit with his right hand cupping over his left wrist so we had kind of come to this conclusion ourselves.

Had another appointment with another physio today (this one was less specialised and more focussed on exercise rather than diagnosis) and she was minded to agree but gave us exercises to do with him anyway...

All in all, we are doing great (she says in a very quiet voice) ;)

Aimee had moulding to her feet when she was born, and used to lie the way she did in the womb too... And her nose was all squished up to one side where she'd been pressed against my insides... Altogether not very pretty lol.. It all righted itself in the end though!

Glad you're doing great too ;)
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Hi MFD, Glad you are both doing well. Poor Benjamin, I hope the exercises help his arm. Did they say if it is likely to make a full recovery or not?

Health visitor has been and gone, omg Kai has put on 7lb:rolleyes::D She was going on about how most babies lose weight and so not to worry if he is only the same weight or maybe 1-2lb heavier:rotfl: To look at him he isn't chubby at all, he is a very strong lad:)

I also weighed myself and am only 3lb heavier than pre-pregnancy:j A few of these and I will be sorted;)

  • Oh Mel - you put my claim of getting into my pre-pregnancy trousers at day 10 to shame :o

I might get on the wii fit because it last weighed me when I was about 41 weeks pregnant so I am bound to have lost some since then :rotfl:

Benjamin will be weighed again on Friday (tomorrow??) and we are aiming for birth weight or just above! He must be putting the weight on now - every time I pick him up I swear he has changed and gotten bigger!

So far the professionals seem to be saying that there is no reason why he shouldn't make a full recovery but we are going for a brain scan tomorrow to make sure it is nothing neurological. I am terriied to be honest, I am not sure what kind of scan it will be (they have only told me it a brain scan) but if it is a CT scan in a big white tube I may just fall apart. I had one about 6 years ago and it was an awful experience.

Charlotte had a brain scan when she was a few days old.

Brief history: I had polyhydramnious (way too much amniotic fluid) which can be an indicator of problems with the baby. They could see a shadow on her skull on a normal scan, and sent me for a brain scan on her while she was inside me. However by the time I got the appointment for the special scan, her head had dropped into my pelvis and they tried both externally and internally but couldn't get a scan of her brain.

She went for a brain scan when she was a few days old and it was just with a hand held thingy, just like your pregnancy scans. They just squirted jelly on her head and rubbed the tool over and the images came up on screen. She didn't seem bothered by it, but she did have really sticky hair afterwards!

Thankfully they didn't find any problems and they think the suspicious shadow was the full thick head of hair that she was born with.
Here I go again on my own....

MFD - No I haven't, I may have lost all the weight, but it is day 11 for me now and I cannot get any of my pre-preg trousers to fit at all!!!!!

Fingers crossed for you for tom. Whatever kind of scan it is, at least little Benjamin won't remember any of it. Luca had to have an operation in his tum at 4weeks old. It was done at Alder Hey in Liverpool, I will never forget how tiny he looked on the big bed and they called me to give him a kiss before he went down to be put to sleep....I cried my eyes out as I thought they were implying he wouldn't be coming back. He did (obviously) and wouldn't have a clue that anything had ever been wrong.

  • Thanks so much for that Becles, that makes sense because it is in the maternity ultrasound department - I may just get some sleep tonight now.
Can't tell you how relieved I feel :A

  • Cheers Sami!

Re ironing, I only iron for job interviews, weddings and funerals. I'll do a shirt for DH too if I've got the ironing board out, but otherwise he can do it himself. We're a scruffy family ;)

We had the last week of the post natal class today (first aid, so I was very keen to go to this one, and my Mum was allowed to come too :) ). We all went for coffee afterwards and decided to meet up next week at the same time, so that is all good!
