  • I only iron just before it gets worn....
and i purposely try to buy clothes that are low maintenance!

just wanted to say, im sorry if ive been snappy in any way recently, i know when i shouldnt be posting but i never learn... amongst other random !!!! happening.... my sister is getting married tomorrow, and we are not invited (long story involving her having a mid life crisis and cutting off anyone who so much as dares to asks questions) she is also taking her 4 year old daughter and moving with her new husband (who she met on facebook in september) to germany next week...
she has made my mum really ill with all the stress and ripped the whole family apart with her selfish behaviour... and when i say selfish, hows this for an example... my brother and sister in laws baby is due today, my mum was supposed to be at thier house 300 miles away to look after thier first child while they go to hospital, but in a huge effort not to be outdone my sister booked the wedding for tomorrow... she could have picked any day of the year but she picked the one time that mum should have been away, oh... and the laughable thing is... the plan for mum to stay with my brothers family was made BEFORE my sister had even heard of this bloke!

so... if im an old crab, im sorry!

Sounds exactly like the sort of thing my sister would do. She married a Turkish man after meeting him on holiday and spending exactly two weeks with him (obviously she doesn't read Take a break!). Needless to say they are now divorced (we think!). Every now and then she meets a bloke online and threatens to take her kids and move to wherever he lives scaring the life out of my mam and me as she isn't the best parent in the world and she really needs family support. Luckily at the moment her present boyfriend is quite local though she has just announced she is pregnant again after only knowing him three months.

Hope everything gets better with your sister CG. You never know, she might be back before long.

Obviously I am quite weird as I LOVE ironing. It's quite my favourite household job. Hate putting it away in wardrobes though.

Hope everything gets sorted out CG.

I'm not overly keen on ironing but I do iron top clothes made of cotton, jeans, school/works clothing - that kind of thing. I don't iron undies or things like jogging bottoms and footy shirts.

I iron the bed linen and absolutely love getting into a fresh crisp bed, especially when the stuff has had a good blow on the line.
Here I go again on my own....

just went to meet a prospective childminder for Oz. And i really don't know, I mean i don't have a really good feeling or a bad feeling. The only concern I have is that there was a one year old child there who was strapped into a buggy the whole time, he seemed content enough but that wouldn't suit Oz at all he roams around a lot. There would be 4 other children besides Oz - the one yr old, a 2 yr old and 2 3 yr olds. The room for playing in was about 12ft by 9ft, does that seem big enough to anyone ? At home here Oz has the whole house to roam about in the living room alone is over 20ft long.

Now that I've typed that I see that I do have concerns. How do you ever know that you can leave your baby? its so hard, i feel close to tears thinking about it. The woman herself seemed nice and motherly type, and all the kids she has hvae been with her since they were babies, and they all seemed to love her - hugging her and having cuddles.

Aaaaagh. how does anyone do this?!!!

    Nad

haven't read the others replys yet so apologies if I'm repeating what has already been said but I would say perhaps you should go and see a few more childminders / childcare providers just to see if you get a better feel for any of them.

I know the idea of leaving them is hard but if you find a childcare provider you are totally happy with it will make it seem so much easier, and more like you are giving them something (another form of stimulation etc) than taking something away.

I recently signed up for an adult education art class just for the chance to put my LO in the related creche, to get him used to being away from me. IT is an onsite creche and I must admit being near helped as it meant that if there were any problems (and he is a particularly clingy baby) he could be brought in to me. He absolutely hated being apart from me initially but did start to thaw ....shame the course has now finished (and we missed the last day due to S&D bug).

well i've had a night to mull it over and i'm now starting to think about becoming a registered childminder so i can stay at home mind Oz and look after a couple of other littlies as well. Am going to look into the process, I love interacting with little ones so maybe this could be a way to go. I just don't know. Also OH said last night he would prefer that i was at home with Oz, I think it slipped out before he realised what he was saying, he tried to backtrack but now I know what he wants and thats hard to ignore as well.

Nad - don't knock it :D my ex oh was just the opposite and would have prefered me to go back to work when ds1 was little. Silly really as I would never have made much more than the childcare fees in those days (no tax credits then so no help with child care either).

Anyway it made me feel miserable as I felt like my life was ticking away AND he resented me not working. In the end I got involved with voluntary stuff that I could fit in round my boy and this led to a whole new career path and my ds1 never went into childcare outside of the usual playgroup stuff.

Anyway my point being that there are other options (to keep your life going I mean) out there if you find it too difficult to go back to work for whatever reason. :j .

Oh and I tried childminding too! I found I hated it as I felt I needed to be away from children and caring responsibilities for at least some time - plus I resented working a whole week for less than £60.00 quid. However if you like the littlies its a pretty cool job and you get to visit as many ducky parks as you want  and these days you can actually charge a decent amount of money too :T .

why do you live in the NE  don't you fancy moving to wigan? the houses either side of me are both empty;)
:rotfl: ah well at least my mum irons Chris's stuff for me so I look like your typical puts how the kids look first mum :D

MFD - I'm sure he'll be fine, in my completely random opinion he'll be reet as rain :D My mum was born with a wonky thumb that had to be put in a cast from the day after she was born due to moulding and my best mates LO had a bent foot from moulding too - she was like a slinky you could stretch her all out and she'd pop back into her little curled up ball :rotfl: she had to have her foot pulled by mummy at every nappy change for a few weeks but you'd never know anything was wrong with it now (she's just turned 2) she also had transposition of the great arteries which meant open heart surgery at only a week old but same thing there too she is no diff from other 'normal' kids her age :D
