we stopped feeding elliot in the middle of the night once we knew he could do without it and he was just after some fuss/cuddles, now i put his dummy back in stroke his head then he (usually) goes back to sleep.
but when he was little, we did the same-kept lights low, quiet as possible etc. He was totally back to front to begin with, up at night sleep in day! so took a few weeks to adjust.

Iv'e noticed over the last day or two that she doesn't even wake up completely when having her night feed - just eats and back to sleep and all done and dusted within half and hour. makes it easier for me to go back to sleep too!r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0

hi Caz, what a nightmare! I thought had it bad with all my stitches and 5 days of really strong BH before the main event!
And Hi RMac too! I definitely reccomend writing it down - write down the start and end of each feed. I had to do that as people kept asking me how often she was eating and I din't know. The answer is "it depends"... No routine here either.Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

Odd day here. Imogen was up at 6am so has been a complete trauma for most of the day. To try to tire her out we walked down to the swings and took the football for her to kick around. We had a fab time while there, but once home all that resulted in was it taking an hour to get lunch down her, then she had a mjor tantrum so I had to carry her upstairs (something I'm trying not to do since I pulled that muscle - ouch!). But she only slept for 90 mins (usually get at least 2 hours when up at 7am) and then it took another 35 mins of tantrums to get her downstairs.
I feel sorry for her cos she doesn't know what she wants. "I want a cuddle," "I DON'T want a cuddle," - repeat for about 25 mins with foot stamping and a red face. It only stopped because she had an accident and needed changing. I'd come downstairs and left her to it cos whenever I went near she was trying to hit me.
So I feel all teary cos I'm knackered. DH has come home and she's being an angel (could that have something to do with CBeebies?!). I cried with frustration at the cuddle thing this afternoon, havin done it for an hour this am.
Oh, and I'm getting stabbing pains in my boob. Similar to those I had when me & Imogen had thrush when she was BF. Krystal - any ideas? When it comes I can only stop it hurting by holding my boob. Fine at home on my own, but this may cause a problem long-term, like say at work!MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
Oz was at his nanna's this afternoon and was so happy and giggly when i went to get him it was soo funny, I am now convinced he is bored by me and bored being in our house, so am def gonna leave him with other people more often. Even when we got home he crawled around the house gigglin and talking to himself i was in stitches. Then he went out to the kitchen and I thought uh oh hes very quiet and I went to look and there he was standing with the larder cupboard open pulling at a bag of potatoes and a bottle of champagne lol.
To the new mummies regarding a routine - when Oz was 7 weeks we decided to start putting him to bed earlier - started at 8pm and he slowly worked his own way back so that now he's in bed for 6.30 or 7pm at the latest, the night time routine is the only one we have ever really established - playtime bathtime, feed time, sleep time. He still gets up at least once in the night for a feed though and hes 10 months!!DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

Aimee has days like that when she's dog tired... And being all hormonal doesn't help does it!
As far as your boob goes, it's unlikely to be thrush... Most likely your breast tissue changing and your milk ducts firing up... If holding it eases it then just continue it... Don't know how you could do it discretely... Maybe fold your arms?
Oh and Aimee still has no real routine... Apart from bedtime is about 7 and she leaves for school about 8:45 dressed and fed... I've never been big on routines myself so there didn't seem much point forcing one on her.... Oh, and as soon as it ever felt like she was sorting her own routine out... She changed things!
And a little controversial note... Babies need feeding in the night... Their bodies need the fuel and in the first few months their tummies aren't big enough to hold all the fuel they need... I would feel better about a baby waking for a feed or 2 than one that slept straight through at weeks old...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Hello Everyone:hello:
Well, I thought I might migrate over here now, as although I am still lurking on the pregnancy thread I don't feel I have much to add anymore:p
So Kai is now 5 days old, he is not a great sleeper and likes to be held...a lot...in fact he sleeps if he is in my arms, but if I put him down he wakes up quite quickly:rolleyes:
The midwife came today to do his heel !!!!!, and is coming next week to sign us off. I have been very teary today, not sure if it baby blues as I never had this with the last two...I am probably just overtired!
