My son does this sometimes although he's moving on to the good old lying on the floor kicking feet punching the floor style tantrum now.
I was worried about him hurting himself as if I ignored the 1st bang he just did it again even harder so I pick him up straight away but not in a cuddle way, I hold him round the waist at my side a bit like if you were carrying a rugby ball, that way he's safe but doesn't get eye contact or cuddles0 -
by son used to head bang on the floor and i used to simply put my hand on the floor in front of him so he hit my hand and not the floor. he outgrew it quickly and it was just a 'stage' that didn't last long.now mum of 4!!!0

aww poor thing.
Charlotte had that for a while and she settled with Infacol. Ask at the pharmacy what they recommend though. They said to me it was a matter of trying the range till we found one that suited.
This is a bit graphic, but it's caused by lots of tiny little bubbles of wind trapped inside that are too small to pass. If you "walk" your fingers firmly from side to side across his tummy, you sort of squash the bubbles together to make bigger bubbles which he can pump or burp out!
Also at baby massage, I was told the "I love you" method, which is drawing a I down the left side of his tummy, then an upside down L from the right side of his ribs across and down the left side, then a U starting from the bottom right and going up, across and down. Keep repeating and saying "I love you" as you do it, and it should produce a nice loud pump! Here I go again on my own....0 -
*hugs* to you Keely, it's not daft at all, Himself has taken loads of time off and I'm dreading him leaving me on my own with Celia! I'm going to have to break myself in in stages (we walked to the bank alone today, I was so glad to get home unscathed!).
My friend swears by Dentinox for colic as it can be given with or after a feed, hope that helps (she gave me a bottle of the stuff she loved it so much!)Comping, freebieing and trying to pay the mortgage off early!0 -
oh keelykat you poor thing. my little man suffered terribly with colic for the first 12 weeks or so. i tried dentinox and infacol and gripe water (gripe water after 4 wks) and found that the infacol was the best for him - every baby is different. i found that the dentinox was difficult to get into him becasue you have to give 2.5ml which seemed like a lot for my wee man - he kept spitting it out cos he didnt like it. gripe water was too watery and fell out of his mouth or else choked him, but infacol was just right - only 0.5ml dose, tastes nice (oranges) and also its thick and easier to get into the baby!
also what really helped for me was to hold LO bolt upright after each feed - ramrod straight this helps the wind come out, keep him upright for as long as you can. i know someone was on here a while ago with the same problem and this advice helped her.
dont feel silly, we all need help sometimes and we all know how difficult it is when a little baby is crying a lot.
and thats what mums are for!! and us too. take care xoxoDON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

Thanks for the hugs and replies
My husband brought home some Dentinox to try, he'll get some of the others if it doesnt work.
Im so glad my mom did come over today, felt a bit daft asking, and silly, but i just needed some support and reassurance that Elliot was ok and to help calm me down.
I'm really hoping this is just baby blues and not some sort of depression thats creaping up-ive had to keep telling my hubby i just dont feel myself and i need support. I cant explain why i feel strange, normally id be fine even in this kind of situation. He's finally seeing that i cant help it and dont like being like this. Him being tired hasnt helped either, we re both as grumpy as each other!!
My mom's going to come over twice a week for a while, to help me out. She helped me do some housework, and made me lunch today. So the little things help. She wanted an excuse to see Elliot anyway!
I'm going to take Elliot for a walk in the buggy tomorrow-see that helps me feel a bit better.Mommy to Elliot (5) and Lewis (born xmas eve 11!)0 -
give the dentinox a try for at least a week i'd say as it takes a few days of use for these things to work.
and fresh air is great , try to get out and about you'll feel much better for it.
elliot's still very young and its natural to feel all these emotions, esp. when your OH goes back to work.
lean on your mum and friends and your OH as much as you need to and dont feel bad about it.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY
