I'll remember that thanks becles. Not that I need it right now, but he can count to 10!
Proud Mummy moment (although you do have to be a parent to understand this one).....I've just put Jack to bed and was cleaning his teeth, he said wee wee, so he sat on the toilet and did a wee and then his first ever poo as well on there. I was so pleased with him. In the last few days he's started telling us when he's done a poo, which is a result, he usually denies any knowledge despite a stinky bum.
I'm thinking I might have this cracked by spring, but trying to be patient and follow his lead, if I rush him he might regress.0 -
Something to bear in mind for a bit further on, but my parents taught me and my brother to play monopoly, and we had to do the bank, work out change whenever anyone bought a property etc.
Mind you, there may well be another game that is a bit simpler that would do the same trick now?Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

Keelykat,
Reflux is a total pain and I really sympathise with you, you need so many muslins, bibs, clothes etc just for a trip into town. Have you tried putting a plastic backed bib under his top and then a cloth one over it, that way you only have to change his top/cloth bib rather than vest too?
I've found that thick terry cloth bibs absorb quite of lot of the fluid before it hits the clothes. Found nothing worked for it getting to the trousers though.
Tchibo do good ones I bought ours in somerfield 7 for £5 which did Molly well. He will eventually outgrow it, it may even improve when he sits up for not immediately the muscles need to stregthen first.
Just keep an eye that its not causing his pain when he pukes, as long as you can't smell acid, he's not back arching and taking a feed, stopping and crying and trying to take it again, then its just basic reflux and there is not much more you can do but give Gaviscon. Have you tried reducing his feed by an oz and maybe give another littler bottle in the day. Sorry if your bf I'm not sure, but gaviscon is a pain to give that way it is easier for bottle fed babies.
My only experience is reflux and bottle fed. Also another thought does he have a dummy? If so if you give it to him directly after the feed before he burps, he might swallow some back down, if he keeps it in for 20-30 mins after that helps too. Nothing is 100% but hope these tips help. Try to keep him propped up more than laying down directly after a feed, maybe in his bouncy chair for a bit or your lap.
If I can help any more please ask?
What puts me off having another is the reflux issue and possible excema again, had it with 2/2 so i can't imagine no.3 being different. DH would never consider it anyway.0 -
Welcome LB and Danwhy (have I missed any newbies? Sorry if so)
Just dreaming about one last baby-free holiday. My mum will happily have Imogen for a week and, with #2 due in July we could sneak away for some sun in March/April. Is that really selfish? We were thinking about a family holiday (all 4 of us) in October, but as I'll be on SMP by then I don't think we could afford it.
It's my 30th this year and our 5th wedding anniversary and we'd promised ourselves we would do something every 5 years. We were meant to go to New York for my 30th but obviously that's on hold! So I kind of feel like we deserve some last couple time. BTW, I'll be going 30 again next year and so will my best mate as they are saving for their wedding and the credit crunch is really putting her job at risk.MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
Number bond ideas ...
Showing x number of fingers and asking how many you're hiding
Number problems - eg I had 10 sweets and ate 4. How many do I have left?
Playing pairs with flashcards - turning two over and keeping them if they add to make 10
Lots of number bond resources to make on Sparklebox - http://www.sparklebox.co.uk/md/addsub/bonds.html

Hi ladybirdintheuk and danwhy.
Ladybird, what a gorgeous name your daughter has. I'm presuming you're breastfeeding and that's why she can't have a dummy yet?
Nadnad - Tom's comfort toys are my boobs too! Think that's why he's not attached to anything else.0 -
Actually Ladybird I was thinking the same about your daughter's name, Isobel/la was on our choice of names too, so we share similar tastes. DH also liked Olivia (PP!) which I did too, mainly because we kept Oliver back from Jack's middle names in case of another boy, but he said I could choose as I had to get her out!!
So Molly Moo she is, or Little Lady, or Princess, Pickle Knickers, Lady, Missy, or her full name in DH's deepest voice to divert her attention.0 -
Hi everyone and welcome to the newcomers.
all this talk about dummies reminds me of my OH's nephew - he was unfortunate enough to suck his fingers as he didn't have a dummy and has a recessed bottom jaw as a consequence  !! He's currently having extensive wiring work done to try to correct the problem but it should have been done when he was about 12 really and it may be too late to totally correct the problem.
OH had a similar habit as a child up to quite old too I'm told, so as you can imagine I was a bit concerned that this might turn out to be an inherited habit and if it was I had every intention of pulling LO's fingers out of his mouth until the habit was broken.:D
However LO has decided to chuck in a few bad habits of his own and currently spends approximately 90% of his awake time with his tongue hanging out of his mouth like a spaniel:rotfl: . So MY new bad habit is putting my sons tongue back in his mouth whenever it starts to look like it's stuck there:rolleyes: .
Any thoughts for how I can encourage him to keep it in or am I destined to follow him round poking his tongue in until he hits adulthood and it becomes his first girlfriends problem?MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -

Hehe, that's reminded me of my Izzy's latest little thing. We call her so many silly names and she can now be regularly heard to say "I not Little Pud, I Isabel", Little Pud to be replaced with whatever pet name we used. Cracks us up. Was cuddling her earlier when she'd hurt herself and said Oh, poor baby... only to hear between sobs, "I not poor baby, I Isabel".... :rotfl:
Thanks so much chocaholic for all those fab links, they are brilliant. She'll be made up with those.
