im so sad, its babies first christmas and i was so looking forward to it.
Celebrate in a week's time, when you'll hopefully all be feeling better? Baby won't remember!

izoom, I don't know what to suggest. I presume he's away on business: would the company rise to a taxi if he can't get home any other way? Give the exceptional circumstances, and yes I know it will cost an arm and BOTH legs!

  • Feeling so sorry for all the sicky people and hoping madly we don't catch anything you have!

Another "young" mum here, 20 when I had DS but very young looking. This time around I'm 34 and waaaaaay older than all the village mums (double the age of some of them  ).

Suppose to got to SIL for Xmas lunch when we get back but I think'll be lucky if we just eat and duck back home. And I am incredibly cold this evening
Does SIL live between you and the airport? Would anyone from her abode go and get him? Then not such a drive for you and sickly offspring. I know you probably don't want to ask, but I'd gladly do something like that for anyone in need! Only I live even further from Gatwick than you do.

Today was the first Christmas Dinner which felt like a collaborative effort rather than me doing the vast majority of the work with grudging token efforts from the boys. Panic not, ladies and gentlemen, it's only taken 21 years to get there! :rotfl:

izoom, I hope you got DH home OK, and that you're all beginning to recover from both unwellness and the season!

Hope everyone was well enough to enjoy yesterday.

It was chaos here, and Charlotte got a bit tired and cranky by the afternoon, but perked up again after a nap.

Meal went well. Did cumberland chipolata's wrapped in sage and pancetta and they were fabulous and husband found a gorgeous recipe for roast parsnips glazed in honey and thyme. Had a three bird roast rather than a turkey and it was really tasty.

I'm a fusspot who doesn't like Christmas pudding, so I made a strawberry pavlova laced with Gran Marnier which, and then we had a massive cheeseboard and coffee and Thorntons mint chocolates.

Strangest present this year was a fence! Ours blew down a few months back and we've not got round to getting it replaced. My parents gave us a home made gift voucher, saying they'll pay for the fence to be replaced. Quite a useful present really and we're pleased with it :D
Here I go again on my own....

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas, and all the poorly people enjoyed it as much as they could.

I managed to come down with tonsillitis but rushed to the doc's on Christmas Eve  and got some antibiotics which have sorted me into a reasonable state. Does mean I haven't been able to have quite as many drinks as I wanted though! :rotfl:

Alex enjoyed himself very much, and in fact must have been so tired by the whole experience that he slept until 9am on Boxing Day (7pm till 9am!!! )

Zoomy - hope the airport run went ok :)

    SB - good luck! :)

Becles - love the idea of a fence for a present! :T At least it's useful and not something that will be shoved in the back of a cupboard forever. (And much better than an M&S bottle of fizzy wine with juice with a sell by date of 03/2008 that I got from my SIL!!!!!  )

And am loving the ongoing roasted parsnip tradition in the Becles household :D (I remember you telling us how it all started! :T )
