I know what you mean Beccles, I'm just deliberating whether it'll be best to go to big out of town tesco or smaller close to home tesco plus theres loads of traffic out side due to a crash miiiles away

Purplepatch I know its unlikely but have you checked online shopping for a slot? is OH home tonight? maybe it would be easier to go at say 11pm might not get everything if you need meat but usually other stuff is fine

No, OH is rather unhelpfully out tonight for christmas drinks

I've looked online, but nothing doing timeslot wise. Oh well, I'm sure I'll sort something out.

It is more the fact that I am struggling to find anyone to look after Isabel while I watch DD1's show tomorrow that is upsetting me now, she will be disappointed if mum isn't there to watch her. Oh and the fact that we won't all be able to go to the xmas eve crib carol service either, was looking forward to taking them to that. Glad I didn't get pantomime tickets this year, had been considering that.

We've all had winter vomiting and the cough/fluey thing in the last 2 weeks, can't believe this has come along too!!:rolleyes:

My Dad has today been diagnosed with double pneumonia (he already had single) and the hosp have said he should be able to come home for Christmas but possibly only for the day :(
I hope you get a babysitter Purple! I'd do it if you were close but I'm preg so can't :)

Ahh, bless you. And even if you weren't pg, then Wigan to Kent might be a bit far :rotfl:

Hope your dad is back to full health soon.

can't believe how many people are ill!

Oz is still quite sick, though his fever has gone, but he's spent the last 3 days either sleeping or when he's awake he's crying and moaning to himself and wants cuddled all the time. Actually got a bit worried cos he slept that much today, but I guess thats probably the best thing for him to help his little body fight the nasty germs.

OH is sick too - must be bad cos he took today off work and he never takes time off! The two of us lay last night with temps hitting 40C and we were starting to hallucinate and everything, luckily we're a bit better today and temps are well down. am really hoping everyones better for christmas cos its baby's first one and i want it to be all fun and games!

Sorry to hear that. James had it when he was two, and he was very poorly with it. He's in the best place in hospital. Is he on IV antibiotics? They worked quickly with James, but it took him months to get fully over it, so your Dad will probably need some TLC for a while.

I'm now trying to decide if I should go shopping at 7am in the morning when we get up. There's more chance of the stuff being in stock, but I'll have to take all the children with me.
Here I go again on my own....

Thanks for your thoughts Ladies :D
Beccles: He's on IVs and also been having injections, he's been in hospital since Saturday when my Mum had to get an ambulance for him at 6am.
I'd go for first thing shopping, I would have this morning but had to join the scrum at GPs at 8.30 after dropping of OH at work at 7am
I went to tesco in the afternoon and it was packed and on way home went passed asda and M&S the car park was packed tonnes of traffic!
I'm so annoyed that I couldn't get basic Chrimbo cards in tesco they had no ones with Grandma/Granddad on and I need 5 addressed to both and then one of each singular! no auntie or uncle ones either, but they did have one that said "from the cat" on it

  • PP you could always pop over to mine in the morning and drop off Izzy, i'd quite like Jack to have the pox and get it over and done with. The little guy didn't catch it from me last year, so seems he's quite immune. Kent to East Sussex, well its closer than Wigan!

Another casualty for the sick club that isn't......Jack. Molly has kindly passed on her germs and now he has tonsellitus and ear infections and has a really high temp. We've sent him to bed in just a t-shirt as he is so warm. Dosed him up and hoping he sleeps through tonight as he's been waking up so hot and upset recently but I blamed it on teething. Bad mummy. Oh and Molly isn't better yet, still has a temp and ear infection and tonsellitus. So has been prescribed her 2nd lot of AB's back to back. I've got her on acidophillus as she's prone to thrush. Hope it helps.

Now and again Jack calls me Mum, I ignore him, he's only 2 for goodness sake, I should still be Mummy. When do most children revert to Mum for babyish reasons I guess. Around infants at primary?? Cos my mum is round a lot and Jack hears me call her that a lot, I guess that is where he's picking it up. But I am not playing, call me Mummy if you want me to play...

Side note....my throat hurts.......i havne't had tonsellitus yet.......

Good luck with all the xmas shopping i'm hoping to get last min bits tomorrow too.

    Merry xmas to everyone.

That's very nice of you to offer bailey, but I'm fairly resigned to not going now. There's still a couple of people I've emailed that I haven't heard back from, but most people are busy in the run up to christmas. She came home from day 1 of the workshop and it sounds like it's a 20min show of crimbo songs and dances, which whilst I would like to see, it isn't like I'm going to miss her doing anything major - the other week I saw her in one of her shows and she sang solo, I'd hate to have missed that, but she assures me it is only group stuff tomorrow.

Alternatively I'm thinking that I could take Izzy in with me, put her in the pushchair and stick her in the corridor well away from everyone else and watch from the doorway. It's not a corridor anyone else would use and I could go in and out another way from them (I work at the school so know the possible access routes!). I would probably have a crap view, as the kids would likely all be facing the other way, but at least I'd get the general vibe. Anyone know how far chickenpox germs can travel when coughed?!?!
