It's all very well getting a list of 200,000 people (double the original target for those who have forgotton,) but promising to get something together when he's got 100,000 and not updating *details* when that target is reached, nor even updating them a month *after* that target is reached, is starting to seem like pie-in-the-sky.
We want them to be seen doing something, not forever re-hashing the same old lines of "get your friends to join" for "/up-to/ 5-10p a litre" sometime in "April/May."
I wouldn't be very surprised if "April" (or indeed "May") came and went with a 'slight delay because of unforseen circumstances' or a card promising 2p off a litre.
I currently get 2.5p off a litre using Morrisons and a cashback credit card. And that's without trying.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

I have copied and pasted the enclosed information update sent to me today from Ben Scammell for those interested regarding the new discount card. One wonders if he is waiting for the magic 400,000 number just what is HE getting out of all of this in the end. I am sure he's not doing this out of the goodness of his heart. Any thoughts about this?????
Dear Pipeline Card Member,
I just wanted to let you know that Pipeline Card now has over 200,000 members. Well done to all of you who have worked to build up our numbers to that level.
If we keep this up, when we go live in April or May, we should have at least 400,000!
Meanwhile, while we have been carrying on our discussions and negotiations, we have identified a possible opportunity to secure a discount on heating oil. We know that some of you would be interested in this, because you have told us, but how many?
If you are interested in cheaper heating oil, don't reply to this email, send a separate short email to oil@PipelineCard.org. It's not guaranteed that we can do it, but we need to get an idea of how many are interested.
That's it for now. Don't forget that you can recommend Pipeline by visiting https://www.PipelineCard.org/recommend.html and you can unsubscribe as a member at any time by sending a blank email to unsubscribe@PipelineCard.org.
Best wishes

Oh dear.. Here we go again.
I'm sorry it is taking a long time but nothing like this has been done in the UK and it is not that simple. We may be doing our bit but our oily friends have their own constraints and concerns. The Dutch scheme took over a year to get off the ground.
For the record, 100,000 was a minimum figure but you are right, this isn't just about numbers any more. There are other issues to deal with (mostly systems-related) and to make things really interesting we have had an approach from a third party suggesting a completely different way of making the card work.. It may well be better but it will take even longer to implement.
You can all have double your money back right now if you are not happy :-)
Otherwise please just bear with me...

If Ben hits if off then we will all owe him a big debt of thanks... stop moaning and be patient0 -
Agreed. It took everyone a few minutes to register on the site and that's all they had to had to do. On the other hand, Ben is putting in the hard work to try and get this off the ground.
If it doesn't work, we won't have lost out on a thing ... on the other hand, all of Bens efforts will be wasted. He is the one taking all the risk and making all the effort .... so lets just leave him to it and hope for the best. No need to be pushy or moany ... there may be light at the end of the tunnel!!
Go for it Ben ... !!!If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0 -
Here, here!
Well said, balsingh!!!
More power to your elbow, Ben. I really hope you pull off something worthwhile.I'll catch up tomorrow!0 -

Yes, i think if he does get something out of it good for him, hes working hard on our behalf so i think we should give him a break. Some people just also like doing stuff to help others save money...like this site! (thats what its all about).
If someone has your money fair enough to get edgy but its all for free. So thanks Ben for doing this.0 -

The short answer is, it's all moving ahead, but not as quickly as we would like. Wheels move slowly in large organisations and our membership has clearly grown faster than they were expecting. We are keeping the pressure on and we are still hoping to have some good news for you in May or June.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

Ok Paul. So you predicted that nothing would have happened by April or May and we would be told that there has been a delay due to unforseen circumstances. And now that has happened. Give yourself a clap!
Just kidding mate - don't mean to sound sarcastic.
I'm sure we'd all like to see something happen but as others have said, all we've had to do is sign up (and there wasn't even very much to that). Ben's had to/got to do the work. If he's successful, we'll all benefit. If he's not, he will lose out and we won't gain (but we still won't lose). So it's "win or don't lose" for us and "win or lose" for Ben. That sounds like a pretty good deal for us doesn't it?0 -
Yes, what IS Ben getting out of all of this....?
How about, all the cleverly disguised affiliate links for the energy companies etc that he's set up and told us all about in this weeks mailing. I'm sure he will happily be earning a little from these!
