Great 'Top Comping Tip' Hunt

Hi all I have been comping since July and haven't won anything as yet (I tell a lie I did win a fashion voucher from a local shops lucky dip, just not off this site) I spend about 2 hours a day entering and like others only enter comps I really would like to win still 50+ a day. I always enter ITV and GMTV comps it seems that there have been some big wins by MSE compers on these which really spurs me on and keeps me going.
I know this sounds a bit silly but could someone tell me how to activate/install Roboform and Autofill
Thanks in advanceRemember every waking moment is a chance to turn it all around.;) Knowledge is the key to respect.

My top tips are:
1. Use a separate email address such as yahoo/hotmail exclusively for comping, check it and clean the junk from it daily - that way you won't miss that lovely winning email.
2. Use a separate mobile number if you can.
3. Roboform is a must, otherwise you will get sick of typing etc.
4. Use MSE for answers/comps and Loquax has a good (free) comp tracker where I track certain sites that I use in conjunction with this site.
5. If a link takes you to a comp, remember to check the whole site whilst you are there - often sites have many comps so enter all the ones that interest you on that one site.
6. Don't be disheartened if a win doesn't come. Everybody goes through lean spells and times when the wins just keep coming.
7. Always enter local comps, such as radio stations, local publications etc - the prizes are smaller, but have less entry's and will a win from these will keep you motivated.
8. Add daily/instant comps to your favorites folder so these can be found immediately and make of point of going through them every day - delete once they are past the closing date.
9. Try and dedicate a set amount everyday to comping, say an hour an a day to enter as many as you can in that time span.
10. Don't be afraid to take a break every now and then, its meant to be an enjoyable hobby not a chore so don't feel guilty if you don't do any for a few weeks/months.
I personally try to keep every prize I win as I look on them as a treat of something I wouldn't normally buy - such as the professional kitchen knives I won - would never have bought them or paid the price they retail at, but they are gorgeous knives and sharper than any I've ever owned.
Good Luck!£2021 in 2021... £253.86/£20210 -
Well you've got to be in it to win it! I have been comping since May, and find it an enjoyable hobby. I have had some really good wins that have meant I could do things I wouldn't normally afford to do. I enter at least 50 comps a day, probably more if possible, and like others I have a set 'comping' email addy so I don't clog up my real one.
Comping is a very addictive, time consuming hobby, and it can be disheartening if you don't win for ages. Reading about others wins in the 'I Won' Forum helps you to persevere.2008 wins £4405 2009 wins £7194 2010 wins £9615
Best wins ever: Laptop, £1000 John Lewis vouchers, PS3, Xbox 360 iPad Mini :beer:0 -
Mr Lewis, I am shocked; this has already been posted!! http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1160437 Duplicate thread alert!!
On a serious note, I have been comping even before I joined MSE, although I find a lot more interesting stuff to enter now I am here. My sgnature shows everything I have won this year, which is not that much, but because I only enter competitions I actually want to win, I don't end up with useless tat, thereby also preventing someone from winning who really did want the prize. Everything I have won, I have wanted and loved.
Don't get despondent if you don't win loads, I enter at least 100 competitions a week and still don't win so often, but you have to be in it to win it, and I keep in mind that it's a fun pastime; winning is just a big bonus when it happens but it cannot be the be all and end all.0 -
My Tip
The more that know the less you win..
So keep it hush hush....
No chance of that now is there lolComping & Coupons!0 -
It is usually all luck, apart from competitions where skills are required such as getting the highest score on a game or quiz, or answering a tie-breaker.
I echo other peoples' points; use Autofill, thank people on here to be polite and to keep track of what you've entered, and also see if you can opt-out of further mailings or you'll end up with literally hundreds of useless emails filling your inbox day after day.0 -
In terms of tie-breakers, if I told you that, I'd have to kill you!!:money:
I won my place on an AC/DC video shoot on the strength of a tie-breaker I wrote. My tip is to be witty and original in your post and make it relevant to the prize you're trying to win. I sincerely doubt that anyone has won by saying "I should win because I want this so much (etc)", that does not show much passion or effort. A silly example, and not a great one as it's a line many people would use, I guess would be an ice cream related competition, "I should win *prize* because Ice-cream if I don't get my own way and I've got a big voice."0 -
Been entering comps for a while now, and a couple of years ago I won lots of good stuff regularly, but now since loads more people are doing them now its really dried up these past months even though I still enter the same amount as before (15-20 per day).0
-
Yeah i'd agree, there seems to be at least double the amount of people doing them the last two or three months and the wins are really drying up.Best Wins * wag for a day = £1500 selfridges vouchers * 4 VIP V Festival tickets * Flights to New York * £1000 *
Thank You to everyone who posts comps!

Can anyone advise me how to get a free sim for an old phone just to use for comps?
All the ones I've seen seem to want at least £10 a month top-up and I only want it for incoming calls?
Thanks!0
