put a bit of washing up liquid or oil around the rim of the bottom glass and wiggle it a bit so the oil/liquid can work down. this has always worked fo rme when glasses have got stuck.0

I worked in pubs for years when earning money as a student and this is what we always did.0 -
As they are commemorative thingies, put cold water in the inside one plus a couple of ice cubes and, as the others say, place the outside one in warm water, slowly adding hot water to it.
DO NOT confuse the two or allow any cold water to touch the outside glass. A bit of WD40 as well, before the water is added, will make first time success more likely.
I saw the bar manager leave himself needing 15 stitches due to the bang glass on bar trick. Then there was the accident enquiry thing, which basically left us in no illusion that anyone caught doing the same would be sacked before we triggered huge problems from head office. Far safer to allow science to do the hard work - and if they do break, it's away from your hands.0 -
Thanks everyone, i've read all your answers out to my OH and we've now tried the 'bit of washing up liquid dribbled down gap' option, and sadly it didnt work, but we now have a little puddle of brown bubbles there!
we'll try the cold/ hot water option tonight. Thanks for all your help and advice! i'll let you know what happens!Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. I can recommend the ice in the top one while standing the bottom one in hot ... it might be minuscule but the top glass will shrink from the cold & the bottom one expand allowing them to free up. I have used this on expensive glasses with no harm.I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0

another ex barmaid who swears by the tapping method. Gentle tap tho and wearing some thick gardening gloves. Although I really wouldn't recommend it with quality glasses. Works a treat with thick old pint pots!!Good Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!

I have somehow managed to get a pyrex bowl stuck inside a pyrex jug and its completely wedged in! I've tried a gentle tap on both the bowl and the jug but it's not shifting. Anyone got any thoughts on how I can loosen the bowl out of the inside of the jug? whilst i am typing I am thinking about the oil in the kettle thread/story and wondering if oil will help dislodge or just make everything else slippy!
all thoughts welcome! feel free to merge when I've got a solution!Blah0
