Ok, thank you. I will have to check the times and find my local deilvery office. I will make sure I take ID and proof of address just in case. Can I find out where my local office is through the website? Sorry to be a pain.

no real need for ID/proof of address if your making an enquiry/complaint
just explain you have missing items of expected mail and ask whether there are any known issues, new postie etc

Diamond - I hope you get a better results than I did (but I very much doubt it!). Over the past months I've not received about 4 items that I KNOW were posted (the most important was my 2 grandaughters passport renewal forms which my DIL sent to me). The Royal mail aren't really very interested especially if you can't tell them the exact date/time/location it was posted from - and, even if you know all that, the chances of them locating your post are remote.

God knows how much mail remains 'undelivered' - if you aren't actually expecting something (or if your great aunt doesn't ask you why you have rudely ignored her birthday card!) you have no way of knowing anything is missing ! And don't even get me started on packets left on the doorstep!

The only way to be able to spot these mising pieces of post out of literally MILLIONS of pieces of post EVERY DAY. Would you rather pay 3 or 4 times the cost of postage to have every piece of mail scanned. The 3 or 4 times is probably quite a favourable price as iot could cost up to 10 times the cost to be honest. Would you be prepared to pay that???

the card says you require ID and if someone is collecting for you they require ID for you
nowhere on the card does it make any comment on the type of item affecting this

May be true for your card. But not mine. Pedant.
  • Hello Mrs Dave here, Don't talk to me about Royal Mail, over the years we have had numerous problems with them. Someone sent my hubby a priceless record a few years ago through the post with DO NOT BEND!!! written all over it and the post man snapped it in two to get it through our post box. Surely a record would have given some resistance and the eejit new what he was doing, however Royal Mail gave us (eventually) £34 compo as that is the highest amount they will give without insurance. They are the worst company in the country and they seem to think they are above the realms of us little people. They make the rules and we have to suffer. I am also in the middle of a wrangle at the moment as the idiotic postman has tried to ram the box of free lightbulbs through the letterbox and has destroyed our letterbox. Having contacted the company who installed our door it will cost us £85 to have it replaced having been in communication with RM for the past month they have now decided that they will send us a cheque for £25 and that is that??? I dont understand how they can justify destroying your personal property and expecting you to be out of pocket over it. They are the pits and if I could use another company then I would, but there lies the problem, there is no other company so they dont have any competition and dont have to give a monkeys.
