Kingston needs a multi-story carpark, and or a helipad urgently. Otherwise most of the shops there will turn into mere seldom-visited showrooms for occassional visits to look around, and most regular purchases will be more conveniently made online. If you think about it, most of the stores at Kingston have online orders available already... Why battle with the abominable parking there?

I have a friend who has got a job at Ikea and they said that the sale for Ikea stores starts on 27th December and as this is our MK store opening day it is more than likely that they will also have sale. :j

However following the fiasco that happened down at the Edmonton store I hope that they have this one well planned. I do not think much of the parking and road lay out down there at Asda/Ikea and can see it being a huge problem. The round about by B&Q/TK MAX is bad enough but with those lights by Ikea we are talking road block!

Agree totally. I was there yesterday morning - people were fighting over parking spaces. My trick is to park in zone H (I think) behind the Kingston Tavern, and walk over - in the time it takes you to drive around looking for a space you can be in Tescos.

I also think that Ikea will be a no-go area for the first 3 months. I might walk there rather than drive (I live about 45mins walk from Ikea)... or get there really early to park and go and have brekkie in the Asda cafe... now there's an idea...

The thing about Ikea (and Asda) is that for we MK-ers, it ain't going anywhere... we don't have to rush there the minute it opens (well, apart from the Ikea sales... which are usually worth rushing for). Other than that, we have all the time to try and pick the quietest time to go!

Anyone else get woken up at 6am today by Hemel's oil depot blasts? The OH did, thinking that the stuff we piled in our back bedroom (we're moving in Jan) had fallen over... it hadn't. V spooky though. I slept through it

  • I woke up at 6ish this morning thinking my youngest son had fallen out of bed- it was only when I heard the news that I put 2 and 2 together.
  • Indiegirl, I forgot to say - have you had an Ikea breakfast? - I think their cafe opens before the main shop(Wembley does anyway).Full english breakfast + tea or coffee(+ refills) for £1. You couldn't make it yourself for that.

True, you couldn't... and being right on-site for opening is better than trundling across Asda's car park. Thanking you for the tip :)

Ikea doesn't have a delivery service (like Argos) right? So do they have pickup bays where you can bring your car to the building or are you supposed to lug the heavy goods all the way to your car?
Is it better to take a bus or short/cheap cab from Bletchley train station and arrange for a man-with-van to meet you there at a particular time?
