Thanks, Churchmouse, that really helpful. I'm doing the pot roast tomorrow so wish me luck only the second time I've used the SC.
re your chutney question - I'm no expert but I have stored half jars of chutney in the cupboard and its been ok, I presume its to do with the vinegar content.Jan - May Grocery spends = £432.47

If you'd seen me here sterilising everything to within an inch of its life you'd have sworn it was major surgery going on

And good luck for tomorrow with the potroast! You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
I know the feeling, first time I made jam/chutney I was terrified of putting a finger/cloth etc anywhere near the top of the jar in case I contaminated it, have to say I'm a bit more relaxed about it now.Jan - May Grocery spends = £432.47

Hiya,
If you know the make, and the model number is likely to be on a plate at the back or underneath, you can visit the manufacturer's website. Most of them have downloadable copies of their user manuals available.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Me again with another silly question, sorry!
I got a big pack of mince and split it into 3 food bags, I used one of them the day I opened the mince which was yesterday and I'll be using one of them tonight. Will the other one last until tomorrow? I can't remember the use by date on it because I'm an idiot and didn't look before throwing the packaging away! I'm not used to using meat, so don't know when it needs using after opening it! I know I can freeze it, but if I freeze it can I use it in my slow cooker and then freeze the meals I make? I thought if I used frozen stuff in my slow cooker, it wasn't allowed to be re frozen? I'm probably wrong though!I'm a money wasting expert.

If you freeze it raw then cook it you can safely freeze it again as it has changed states
Follow the normal rules - cool safely etc. I would freeze it to keep it fresh if you're not sure but i;m quite cautious about meat

Ooh thank you! I'm glad I was wrong about that! I thought it had to just be fresh stuff, I'm such a wally! Thank you! I'll just freeze it then.
