    itv showed the 2nd part of a program called unforgiven and have just found that part 3 is being shown tomorrow night. but when was part 1 shown? there is no mention of it on itv iplayer? was it something easily picked up if i cant find week 1? or is the whole ting not worth bothering with?
  • Hi everyone. I know that this is a really stupid question, please forgive me. I'm new to this money saving lark and am new to cooking using leftovers. We had a r chicken last night and I want to use the leftover meat to make a chow mein tonight (I picked up some noodles for 20p and some egg fried rice for 30p the other day :) ) my question is what's the best way to make sure the (already cooked) chicken is hot enough to be safe without either turning it dry and crispy or overcooking the noodles and veg? Do I fry the chicken first (or will it be too dry?) or add it with the veg and cook it all longer??
    Sorry, I know it's pathetic but I've only ever done it with raw chick before, and one of the main reasons I haven't really ever cooked with leftovers is I'm so paranoid about food safety. Thanks in advance for not lynching me :)

    Nicky, I'd put the chicken in first, in small chunks obviously, with some oil and whizz it around just for a couple of minutes before slinging the veg on top and keep it all moving until the veg is cooked. I find the veg takes longer to cook than it should, maybe you will too, or maybe you're happier with nearly raw veg and / or you're not trying to do lots, because I'm often feeding hungry boys as well as me and DH.

    Yes, you can.

    While you need to ensure that it is thoroughly heated up throughout - just do it reasonably gently to avoid cooking it twice and turning it into a brick :)

    Just had a poke through some old threads and found people had made and frozen suet puddings for reheating another time.
    I've never made one myself, but looks like it should be ok.

    Having a fridge clearout, and I've come across some ready roll puff pastry use by April 2011 :o would you use it?

    Yes I would use it, the chances are it will be perfectly fine. Defrost it and have a look at it, if it looks normal it be ok to use. Food doesn't go off in the freezer but it can suffer from freezer burn if it hasn't been wrapped well. Freezer burn won't harm you but may affect the quality of the food.
