Nodwah, sorry, I wasn't replying to the humus question, but to Sharon's question about a website for frugal recipes; it was originally on it's own thread but has now been merged and it's all gone out of sync!

  • I have two questions, both of which I hope are quick!

    1. When I roast potatoes etc, I usually save the oil afterwards in a sealed container and use it again when I next roast with a little fresh oil to use it up. The question is how many times can I re-use it before I need to bin it?

    2. Tomorrow we are having roast chicken (from last week) and yorkshire pudding, I'm feeling pretty motivated tonight so could I make the yp batter tonight and store in the fridge to cook tomorrow?

    Thanks!

I've never done this, as I just brush oil over the roasts, so I don't have spare oil IYSWIM so can't really help.

Yes, don't see why not, sounds fine to me, make sure you use it though :D
  • Hi all  I just have a quick question & wondered if anyone could help...I have heard recently that plants LOVE used tea leaves..but I'm a real coffee drinker. I was wondering if I could feed my sad plants with my used coffee grounds..? I really don't want to kill them as thay have suffered this past winter (especially my lovely camelia). Any thoughts? Thanks - SF

not sure about using coffee grounds as a feed, I put them on the compost heap and generally sprinkle them on the soil and they havnt done veg plants any harm. Places like starbucks give big bags of grounds away to anyone who want them so must be ok :-)

    hello anyone
I think I have heard of a site that allows you to input in what ingredients you have in your store cupboard and then gives you some recipes, but I cant seem to find it. I have found a couple that seem to be American , but I'm sure I saw a British one. Can anybody help?

    many thanks

I think the one you have in mind is this one:-

    Cooking by numbers

There are plenty of other websites listed in our own collection along with hundreds of yummy recipes in our collection here:-

    The Complete Cooking Collection

That collection, along with many others can be found in our "Indexed Collections" sticky at the top of the first oage of Old Style.
