It might well do the trick, thanks
I'll go check the piggy bank.
Put piggy bank away, you need an oven chip tray - http://www.cn-ice.com/quickachips-mesh-oven-chip-cooker-p-702.html often available in pound shops. I use one of these in my sc to remove lots of things, including joints and steamed puddings. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -

I tried a google but could not find anything in the UK for squeaky. I really thought I'd seen them in the Lakeland catalogue but not there now.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Yes, that's a possibility, thanks - but I'm thinking I'll have to add some handles or loops to it... hmm... thinks...

can we find a pattern to crochet one out of string? :rotfl:The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Please and Thank You are the magic words;)0 -
People used to do this for lifting steamed puddings out. You could also use folded strips of foil or greaseproof paper, under the chicken, then folded over the top loosely so easily retreived to lift the chicken out? We used to leave the strips outside but might affect the seal on a slow cooker. HTH:)Signature removed for peace of mind0

don't think a thinly folded strip of foil or greaseproof would affect the seal, but would still opt for the crochet option if I could.
I'm really struggling to visualise what you're planning, so once you've done your crochet, please, please, please post us a pic :T :rotfl::rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
