Ok, I am sorry if I am asking this in the wrong place, but I am a little lost at all the info avaliable here! lol
I just wondered about the challenges...I saw in someones signature that they are saving £1 a day for 365 days..and they give a running total like £8/£365 kind of thing... is there somewhere to sign up for that? Or do I just go ahead and go for it? Hubby and I started it today...we have some catching up to do..lol
Thank you in advance for any help x

Just go for it, Strawberry Yoghurt! If you haven't already worked it out for yourself, you can put things in your signature by clicking on Edit Signature in the Quick Links tab at the top of the page. My own signature shows what I've knitted for the Knit Your Square thread (and I now feel guilty as I've completely stopped since mid-December as I was knitting Christmas presents instead) and it used to have the Grocery Challenge on it but again that fell by the wayside completely in December, so I've taken it out. I'm doing the £1 a day challenge too (except I've decided to try for £2 a day as DH's tax bill always falls due in January and £730 will be a better total to aim for to offset it than £365) but I haven't put that in my signature yet. Last year I joined in the one which started 100 days before Christmas so I had £100 on Boxing Day - just in time for the sales was the idea but actually it paid for the Christmas Tesco shop. :j
As you say, there are loads of absolutely BRILLIANT ideas on here - I can't tell you what good things I've picked up over the years, even when I'm only lurking rather than posting.
Good luck with your saving and hope you pick up as much from OS as I have.0 -
I've got a 1.650 kilo(3.5lbs) pork roast. How many people would this serve? I was supposed to be cooking for 3 but have extras coming over and not sure how many I can feed. I'm new to roast cooking so I have no idea!December GC £23.43/120 :T
Nationwide Overdraft £1136, Natwest Overdraft £1800(interest free), Natwest Credit Card £155/£350

I'd probably make a joint like that do 6 of us for Sunday lunch and then another meal for 3-5 of us. For the second meal it would probably be diced and heated in sauce with veg so difficult to see how much (or little!) you're actually getting.
The other trick to stretching Sunday lunch is to make sure there are lots of roast potatoes and a choice of veg, and plenty of it.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Thanks Sue. It's off the bone. I deliberately went for a big one because it was such a good price so I should have definitely have enough for 4 roasts and some for sandwiches. My OH was getting worried he wouldn't have enough meat!December GC £23.43/120 :T

My son's newish school sports holdall has got lots of grey-green bloom of mildew inside on fabric and semi-waterproof/plastic surfaces. Is there anything more effective than dilted bleach to wipe it down with? And if I were to use a bleach solution on the waterproof lining is it likely to damage it or affect the outer colour?
There's no question of replacing this in the next few years so I need to do a good job of it!0 -
Hi Scotrae
