I have a Christmas pudding to serve today but no brandy. Can I use sherry or port instead?

No laughing - :rotfl: I know it sounds like a daft question!

I think it would be fine, is port a bit thicker? if so the sherry might be better, do you mean to flame the pudding iyswim? I've used Southern Comfort before and it was fine.

If you are trying to flame it, I believe it's a good idea to warm the alcohol very slightly before pouring it over, not to boiling point or the alcohol will dissipate and it won't flame!

But both port and sherry could go into a pud, so for flavour it won't matter.

Thank you Sue and Violetta. Yes - want to flame it. I also have some cointreau although was keeping that back for some chocolate mousse.

I have some veg to use up and was going to make some soup with it, can I put spinach in a slow cooker, or is it just going to go to mush? (well it will anyway as i'll be blending it once cooked :p) Or shall I just do in a pan instead?

Just bought my first bottle of neat Stardrops. (I know, I know....I'm behind the times!!).

I just tried it (neat) on the build up of grease on the glass part of my cooker hood extractor and my word - it's amazing stuff :T (Now, of course I can see exactly how filthy the filter is...ick!!).

Question is - I know you can use it diluted in a spray form. I have an old Fairy powerspray bottle that I'm soaking to clean out. It's not a huge bottle - what ratio Stardrops : water should I use?

Thank you and happy new whatsit :D

I don't think I'd leave spinach in a slow cooker for the length of time that it takes to cook the dish - I'd just stir it in about half an hour before cooking is finished.

I DO know that it takes 1min in a pressure cooker lol.
