It looks & smells OK but I think you're right - I will consign it to the dog's dinner!

    Thank you

Some would eat it - going by taste and smell but personally, i don't think I would be able to stomach it ! If you do risk it, heat piping hot etc x

    Hi all :j

Hope someone can help with this.....I made mincemeat last year, think I used the Delia recipe but can't be certain....

Anyhow, it has been stored in the cellar since then - & now when I look at it, it doesn't look right. I've taken off the lid of one jar & it's as if the suet is in little bits, & there is fluid at the bottom of the jar. Now it doesn't smell bad, but not sure how to rescue it, or if it can be rescued - I have about 6 jars. Should I take it out of the jars & heat it up, see what happens?? Use it in some mincepies & see how it tastes?

    tkyou if you can help:D

I'd take one or 2 jars and decant the contents into a bowl. Give it a stir and try making a batch of mince pies. You may well be surprised at how good they are :T If they're rubbish, bin the lot - you've only wasted a bit of pastry.

hi im new to the forums, yesterday I was having great fun reading the old style thrift forum, today its closed. I only got to page 18, I know im gonna get stick but why? gutted trust me to be behind times as usual.
All the forums--I think!--were closed for some maintenance so perhaps it was that? Think it was around 10pm for maybe four hours..I wasn't awake then so can't be sure :p

I have some brisket left which we cooked on Xmas Eve - will it still be OK to eat today?
I would have eaten it. Yesterday we had turkey and veg soup I made on boxing day when, after stripping the turkey and freezing portions for future meals, I put the carcass and veg into slow cooker.

We also used up yesterday the left over veg from Christmas dinner and everything was absolutely fine.

I think that if food is refridgerated quickly food lasts for a considerable time.
  • Hi all

I bought an enormous gammon and lump of beef for my buffet tonight with the intention of cutting them up and freezing part of them.

I've just chopped them up - will I be alright to leave the bits I'm not using wrapped in the fridge and freeze them tomorrow now that I've "un-vacuum packed" them? I don't really have freezer space at the mo :o but should have by tomorrow!

Sorry for daft question, having a dizzy day :D
