@zippychick - Scotch bonnets are extraordinarily hot chilies. Jalepenos usually have between three to eight thousand Scoville units (that's a scientific unit of 'hotness') - SB's can have around one-fifty thousand Scovilles. Stay to just one. If you're short on ingredients, add another bell pepper, or even very finely minced onion, to make up the bulk.0

The cake recipe looks brilliant, so thanks for posting it! I use creme fraiche as a sauce base having had a lovely meal cooked by a French chef. I asked him what was in the sauce and he said 'just creme fraiche'. You can add anything to it; a favourite here which I do often is to slice leeks, mushrooms and garlic and fry in a little oil until soft, then add a few tablespoons of creme fraiche and cook for a few more minutes - it's delicious poured over pork chops or slices of fried pork fillet. It can be thinned out with milk if it's too thick.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

I've only just remembered to take DD's chicken sandwich out of the freezer for her packed lunch (usually I do it the night before in and pop it in the fridge). Do you think it will defrost in time for her lunch at school - 12.15pm?Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0

zippychick wrote: »Right, am making chilli jam but only have 100g of chillis so am going to pro rata the recipe. I would like it a bit more spicy, so in addition to the required chillis (100g), I was also going to add two scotch bonnets - which are 10g but obviously much hotter chillis. Does this sound mental or should i just add one? I am unsure of the hotness
Edit - couldn't wait any longer so just went with the one. I have a terrible habit of playing with my nose ring and did that with Scotch bonnet fingers.
I think you're crazy  I made mine using HG jalapenos, and it was fireyThis was great for me and DH, but would be too hot for friends
Do let us know what it's like, though
