when i cook shaped pasta, when it cools it goes all sticky etc.. what do i need to do to make it like the pasta you find in pasta salads in the supermarket..

I always rinse it under cold water until it is cool.
Yep, rinse it immediately under cold water - do a thorough job, then shake it dry as much as possible. Also make sure you don't overcook it in the first place - you want it to have a little bit of bite left.

Im making a couple of cottage pies for the freezer, can someone tell me if its ok to freeze it with the mash on top or should I just do the base mixture, freeze that and make the mash when im ready to eat the pie?

I freeze mine with the mash on top. Apparently pre-cooked potato reheated counts as one of your 5 a day.0

My plum tree produced a really bumper crop this year and last. I read something recently about having to cut the tree back after a big crop to try and keep the size of the fruit up. They did tend to be a touch small this year and the tree was quite weighted down. Can someone point me in the direction of how and when to cut the tree back?

I think I probably know the answer to this but can dates be fozen? I got 3kg very cheaply but would like to keep a lot of them for use at a later date (no pun intended).
