Hi, just used a smoked, ham hock to make a lovely veg soup. I have saved some of the lovely meat for sandwiches tomorrow and put the rest back into the soup.
I have a huge piece of the fat and I would like to use it to make some kind of crackling. Should I pan fry it or roast it in the oven? I'm thinking pan fry is quicker and cheaper but would it work?0 -
If it´s a piece of fat it won´t make crackling, just slowly render it down in the frying pan and use for frying or roasting0

Sorry, I should have said it's the rind I have left over, not just a piece of fat..0

I've not done crackling from ham but if I do a pork joint I put the crackling in a very hot oven and that crispens it up usually.July grocery- 24.40/220. NSD-1/3.

Thanks, I covered it in oil and sea salt and it is sizzling away in the oven as we speak! I know it's not healthy but I intend to be dipping the crackling into my soup in just a few minutes! Yumm!0

Any ideas on how to reduce dust in the bathroom?! I seem to wipe the sink/bath/top of toilet almost daily as it's dusty, but it's back again the following day (I use a wet cloth so I am getting rid of it rather than just moving it around).
No where else seems to get this dusty (or maybe it's just that it's harder to see!)Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

freakyogre, I wonder if it looks dustier as it is damp when you finish wiping it and the dust sticks to the moisture. I wonder if you could dry the surfaces you have just cleaned somehowGod is good, all the time

Hmm, it could be, i'll give it a try. Thanks!
It's a bit difficult as there's no window in there, so it seems to stay damp for hours after I shower.Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100
