Car back on monday, £130 all told. Could have done without the hassle but at least it happened on a cold day, not a snowy one. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Hi,
I think I have the jist of this thread. having read the start of the old enough is enough thread and some of this new one.
Having just found out my wife and I are expecting our second child on 1st October, my plan is to clear out anything and everything we have no use for in the loft, cupboards, spare room and shed prior to my wife giving birth in order to make room in our small 3bed room house.
I'll keep you posted on how I get on.
HI, welcome to the world of decluttering. I never seem to get very farbut there are some amazing people on here who have made real headway. If you have anything worth selling (and you would be amazed at what sells) then Ebay or Amazon are good. If you haven't heard of Freecycle, search for the relevant threads, and if you need help, just shout
Good luck :TYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
I pop into this thread every now and again adn I was just wondering - we all strive to get to this nirvana, this place wher ewe are only surrounded by stuff that matters and that we like... but has anyone got rid of all their stuff, and then regretted it? Anyone discovered that actually having all that stuff was part of what made life interesting?
Just wondering. I was clearing out a cupboard in my bedroom and it's now pretty empty... and I suddenly felt a bit sad. And wondered if I'd got rid of stuff I'd one day need.0 -
Hi, hope you don`t mind me joining in here.I have been looking at this thread for a while.I often declutter...we have a large family and not a huge amount of space. It seems though, that however much I freecycle, ebay, give away, recycle etc etc, the house always looks as though it has exactly the same amount of stuff in it.Like Sarahs999, I have sometimes cleared a room or a corner and then felt like it needed filling up again! I have occasionally wished I had kept something I have got rid of in a mad day of `I will be a minimalist`.I find if I pass on toys that the kids have outgrown (or i think they have) they will be searching for a particular toy that hasn`t seen the light of day for months, and they really really want it and i know that it`s gone...i feel guilty.:rolleyes:0

Well, its bin day tomorrow and I have a wheelie bin to fill before then. I have a load of rubbish at the bottom of the garden, leftover from the shed clearout I had, so I am going down with two binbags ready to fill with that rubbish and get it in the wheelie bin pronto!!!
Have half filled the recycling bin with some cardboard ready for next week's collection.
Am ready to list another batch for ebay. I am going to get rid of my Panasonic SD254 breadmaker that I simply can't get on with. Having got my lovely Kenwood mixer with food processor and liquidiser for my birthday, I have decided to get rid of the liquidiser and food processor in the cupboard to make more room, will try to sell first before freecycling them.in..

The snow on Monday meant I worked from home - which was great as I mixed some work and some tidying/sorting. Lots of paper for the recycling, sorted the rest of the recycling too.
Then went through kitchen cupboards and worked out what we actually had, before doing a big monthly shop of non-perishables - not much went to waste either I'm pleased to say and I know what we have better too now.
My target for tonight is to pop a few bits on freecycle I think and make a list of things to try and sell through work first before freecycling those that don't sell.
And sort the little 'heap' that's reappeared on our settee - think I need to use Gers motto now!Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Still on my mission to 'get rid' - today I managed to only 'take out' with nothing coming in!
OUT:
1. THREE unused/unlove/unwanted rucksacks but managed to give one to a friend who was delighted.
2. A large plastic box - long unused and long unloved
3. 6 empty bottles
I am determined to take at least one item out of the house each time I go out and so far it's been achievable. Not always to the extent above but it happens.0 -
Can I join in too, not that there's much today!
OUT:
Various bottles, jars, tins and card into the recycling
IN:
Rather a lot of melted snow on children's feet0
