  • I made rather feeble attempts when the previous thread was running, but did get rid of a fair amount. I don't have time to Ebay stuff now, which makes it so hard to get rid of stuff as I keep thinking I could make a few bob as I go to put things into the charity or bin bag.

Anyway, we now have to clear out a FULL garage, jampacked floor to ceiling, which we need to vacate by 1st Oct. I've now become a bit more gunho about decuttering, we've had this garage full of junk for over three years and never wanted anything from it.

Life's just too short to have so much stuff doing nothing!
  • I wondered where everyone had gone to now I have found you all I am back on board again after a rather stressful 6 week period of doing nothing, when anything that could go wrong did go wrong!

Have got 19 items on ebay with another 7 scheduled to come today and a pile of items to list tonight. Have finally got OH to sort through the shed so I can at least open the door without being bombarded with various punctured footballs/rugby balls/screwdrivers/spanners

IN: So far nothing but a waiting for a duffle coat for DD
Out: hopefully the washing which I put in before I came to work if my OH has remembered (off work with a bad leg!)
:o 2008 will be the year I finally get organised!:o
    :eek:Failed miserably-will try harder in 2010!
  • Not doing so well today - haven't done ds1's room as have a bad cold.

Out : 1 large cardboard box + junk mail

In: 5 pairs of fleecy pjs and an extra hot water bottle + 1 piece of nice wool material from the charity shop (£1.99) - enough for a skirt.

Oh and I threw out an old pair of trainers that had holes in them - I feel better now.

Soapy - yes I do the same with the bins on binday - you are not alone!!

Had a quick tidy round and have a large pile of paper for shredding or recycling. Just taken 5 empty pots back to Lush and got a free face mask. Once that is used I'll have another 5 pots to take back.

There is so much clutter in our house, I wonder if we are connected in some way to the Steptoe family...

Ok I promised last time I would do this & still I haven't made enough of a start. We currently have everything except essentials out of the living room while we decorate, its lovely & seems so much bigger so I am determined that we won't be putting back all the unnecessary furniture.
I've sorted out a big bin bag full of old clothes etc this morning & am determined to get rid of DD's old cot bed duvet, shes 4 & hasn't been in a cot for the last 2 years but we kept it "just in case". just in case what???? we have loads of blankets, sleeping bags, spare duvets etc. So out it will go.
I will do my best & I'll try to report back. i think thats half the problem. I don't report & theres no thanks from home so feel like no-one appreciates the effort, lol sorry enough woe is me.

Essentially what I want to say is

    I'M IN

    Hugs

We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

Is anyone else as daft as me and gets excited when the binmen are coming? :o
I fly round the house finding the tiniest scraps of paper for the recycling bin, I drain the last of a bottle of lemonade just so's the bottle can go in the recycling bin straight away rather than wait for another fortnight to go, I wash out tins and stick them out in the recycling and my worst obsession yet, I went out to the bins in my nightie, early in the morning just to put two teabags in the bin!!! I just hate having unecessary stuff hanging around.
I don't think I'd go that far (actually I definitely wouldn't, as I don't even own a nightie:eek:   ) but I do empty the last of a carton of milk into a china jug to get rid of the plastic container on recycling day. I usually get Mr LW to put the recycling in the box/bag in the shed on a daily basis, so there's only a little bit to go in when it has to be put out.
Can't say that I've ever got excited about the bin men coming, just cross when they don't leave the new black bin bags and pink recycling sacks when they're supposed to.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Out: horrible tax paperwork - completed and sent not really thrown away but off my desk!!! I have been just looking at it for weeks - now done.
In: Cheque from travel insurance company (DS was poorly on holiday and needed a doctor and meds)
  • Have only just found this thread, but recognise quite a few names from the £10 a day challenge. Have been decluttering for about 6 months now, started with OH in April, and gradually anything else he left behind! Three military history books have gone to new homes via ebay this week and one of mine on soft furnishing. Maybe a little premature as I have three days off work next week and plan on finishing my new living room curtains.
