I did VERY well at first, we moved house in the October last year and with the help of this thread and others Freecycle huge amounts of stuff (shed, wood, cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, other electricls, kitchen stuff, clothes, shoes, car electricals and parts etc etc) gave 12
bags of stuff to the charity shop and binned/recycled another 26 bags of stuff at least
Since then not so well, accumulated more things and need a darn good clear out, but much better than I was 18 months ago.One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Have been on the great declutter myself over the last three weeks.
OUT - 10 bags of clothing to the British Heart Foundation
a bag of boots & shoes to the British Heart Foundation
a carrier bag full of belts
a bag of boots & shoes to a friend
(I am having ankle problems and can't wear heels any more)
3 bags of rubbish to the recycling unit
Dozens of cardboard boxes
Dozens of magazines to the recycling after I have taken out
recipes/knitting patterns.
IN - A stackable unit to house my remaining boots/bags so that I can
get at them easily
- a set of grip-to-me coathangers which take up a lot less space
and are virtually indestructable.

There I was just thinking I might have a lazy night and this thread came along and leapt out at me!
I'll go and finish the bottom shelf of that bookcase then, shall I?!
*edit* Right - bookcase done - the sorted-out stuff just needs to be found a home but hopefully it will be able to go to the Hospice shop with us tomorrow. I've also listed three books on Green Metropolis (my first three - hope they sell!) and slung out a load more old paperwork, cards etc.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Yes!!
I forgot that I also sorted out my bookcase and gave a few boxes to the British Heart Foundation0 -
I don't think you ever do finish to be honest; just when I think I've got it all up to scratch, something else rears up and waves at me.0

y'see I'm not expecting to get to the end as in I'll never have to do it again. On going de-cluttering like my current situation with the family's clothes where I can't get rid/put away for next year the summer stuff cos we are still getting hot days I still realise will happen. It's the 'I've got behind' de-cluttering I'm struggling with, like paperwork that has been in a tray for a few week that needs 'acting' upon. Even if the 'acting upon' just means filing/shredding. That's what I can't seem to get to the end of.
Well you are lucky having 'hot' days !!! I am in the North East
It has been barely 13C for the last couple of weeks here - the central heating is on 22C and I am wearing a thick dressing gown and thick slipper-socks!
All of my Summer clothes have either been given to charity or hung in the wardrobe for next Summer, that's if we get one
Certain things we cannot get to the end of, that is just one of the facts of life - bills, pamphlets, free newspapers, etc. We just have to learn to live with those.

I'm in the North East too, just the southern most tip in Yorkshire. The other week I contemplated getting rid of dd's summer stuff but was talked out of it on this thread. Yesterday I put a jumper on in the morning and had to change to a t-shirt by afternoon and today has been the same. I've had washing on-line.0

Woo! Am really getting into this now! With Mr EH's help this evening we have:
Cleared off the top of the chest of drawers in our bedroom, put lot of our old cuddly toys (been holding onto them for year for old times sake) in the hospice shop bag - with things being tight for so many families this year it's nice to think of them maybe giving a little 'um some presents come christmas day that they'd not otherwise have had.
Swapped the large bookcase from the bedroom (that I'd been clearing off) with the smaller one from the hallway - the large one now has all our thriller-style books on (Clancy, Arthur Hailey, James Herbert, Stephen King etc) so we know where to find them. The smaller one will head to the Hospice shop as planned, but maybe not tomorrow.
I've listed another 4 books on Green Metropolis.
Part filled a bin sack ready for the dustmen - I shall do a dash round the flat at some stage over the weekend to fill it totally before it goes out.
I've found a stack of postcards which will come in handy for sending notes to people - mainly Brewery ones we've been given at beer festivals!
Persuaded Mr EH that the Playstation might as well go on eBay.
Not a bad evening's work!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

We have lost a rental DVD from Tesco so in the search to find it I spent 2 hours going through stuff yesterday and had a big pile of paper for recycling and half a bin liner of other stuff. Didn't find the rental DVD but found two or three other things we had lost so that was a bonus. We want to cancel the rental so have decided to just fess up and pay - the website was threatening £20 for a lost DVD (gulp) - but they are only going to charge £10 - and then we can save all the £9s on rental.
Will sort out the clean washing basket today (and extract any clothes too small for ds2) and maybe sort out my knitting patterns - possibly!“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”
