  • Piquant took the words right outta my mouth (well outta my head anyway)

I'm determined to get rid of our old Junk so I have room to replace it with more NEW Junk this Xmas :rotfl:

We have ordered and filled 3(yes 3) full size skips in the last 18 months. Now granted some of that was big stuff like kitchen cupboards but the majority was just Tat. Might sound reasonble if we lived in a mansion but its an average sized 3 bed semi :o

Every drawer, cupboard, nook and cranny are packed and yes we do expand our junk to fill every available
space  I regularly fill the door to door charity bag and Ebay any sellable tat but it just seems to breed over night.

I'm hoping putting it all down in writing will concenrate my mind (well thats the theory)

    OUT SO FAR THIS WEEK
    5 DVDs returned to MIL
    9 books to Bookmooch.com
several bags of recycling (collected tomorrow morning)
1 black bag of clothes to charity
    Ebay.... Box of Hair Dye
Ebay.....Box of chrome handles (left over from tarting up the kitchen last year)
    Ebay.....Soldier Soldier DVD

    IN THIS WEEK
7 DVDs borrowed from MIL (well cheaper than renting)
1 book from Bookmooch (9 out 1 in isn't bad eh)
Lovely new Morphy Richard kettle from MIL
Ebay....Pack of 4 pairs of knickers (part of Xmas gift for SIL so will be going out again in December)
Large box of Xmas stuff from halfcost.co.uk. (also going out again in Dec as pressies)

What is MIL ? Sorry I'm probably just being thick!
Quidco Earnings (since Dec 06): £467.75

I have read the old thread and always wanted to join in, but felt I'd left it a bit late in day, so to speak. Please can I join now? I dream of having clothes hanging in the wardrobe with space between the hangers. Not worrying about health and safety coming round every time a cupboard is opened because my family are not wearing hard hats to protect them from fallout...

Just wanted to say how funny I thought this was!!

    sounds like my house!!

IN: £20 cheque arrived this morning from a competition win :D

You could decrease even more clutter by sending this to me - No? I didn't really think you would!
  • Well like others on here I read the old thread regularly, but never actually did anything about getting my own act together. I also suffer from "hoarding" - I'm not too bad these days but OH is a nightmare! Right then, better get down to it - I shall go now and find half a dozen books to go on the shelf in the communal area for our local book exchange, then deal with 5 of the photography magazines that are stacked up ready to have the useful articles stripped out and put in my reference file.......here I go!!

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Oh yes, please, please can I hop on board this time? Tried halfheartedly before, but my heart wasn't in it! This time I have two areas to deal with - the house obviously, but also my school office. I retire in December and have so much personal stuff that has to be brought home (but where will it go??   ) - and in all fairness to the incoming head I really must throw out all those folders I've hung on to "just in case".
So, this time, must get down to it. Rolls up sleeves and feels a list coming on!:D
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!
  • Ooh shiny new thread. I'm off work this week and so far have:
    • Taken 5 books back to library (and only got 2 more out)
    • Posted 2 tops and a dvd take I'd sold on ebay/amazon
    • gone through the last of my childhood stuff which I got from my parents, sorted some of it into my new 'special' box and the rest in bin/recycling.
    • Sorted and cleaned my sylvanian families I had when I was little and have put some on ebay, and will list the rest later in the week
    • Got rid of my old computer monitor, was still in garage after having no interest on freecycle - then saw a wanted for one on Sunday, contacted the person and she collected it yesterday - was going to take it to the tip on Friday so even better.
    • had a general clear out.
So quite productive so far - hopefully will have even more to show by the end of the week - want to look at clothes and take some to the charity shop on Saturday when I go into town.

My MIL has literally hundreds of DVDs. It's brilliant..... every time we visit we borrow about 5 or 6 till the next time we visit.

Saves a fortune and we don't end up with a pile of DVDs we have watched and just stick in a cupboard to gather dust

    IN

3x balls of wool....knitting DGD 2 x blankets for the dolls pram and cot i've got her for Xmas.

  • Can I join in this time as well - I spent yesterday morning doing ds2's room - one full binliner of cr*p is now in the bin as well as a big bag of clothes to charity.

Tomorrow I will do ds1's room - these jobs are best done when they're at school so I can be totally ruthless!!

BTW for books our public library takes donations of second hand books - the good condition, best seller ones - which means that loads more people get to read them. (Budget cuts mean they're limited to what they can buy)

  • Good afternoon fellow de-clutterers hope you are all well and tackling those cupboards and drawers with great vigour.

Been out most of this morning Grocery shopping so not got much done

I've got DGD for a few hours this evening so can't see getting too much done then either. C'est la vie theres always tomorrow

    So far today......

    IN

    1 book from Bookmooch
1 fleece for my 2 year old
1 hoodie for my 11 year old

    OUT
