I have read the old thread and always wanted to join in, but felt I'd left it a bit late in day, so to speak. Please can I join now? I dream of having clothes hanging in the wardrobe with space between the hangers. Not worrying about health and safety coming round every time a cupboard is opened because my family are not wearing hard hats to protect them from fallout...
If I stick to doing this, I may be able to sell a few bits and clear some of my debt, so it will be a double whammy!
Really looking forward to getting to know you all.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Right one question about how long to keep things in respect to declutting.
I tend to keep boxes e.g microwave, kettle, toaster etc.
How long should I keep them. Until the warranty runs out or longer. I have a feeling that in the next 5 years I will be moving house again  .
When I lived in my old flat I kept all the boxes loads of stuff came in but flat packed them down and hide them under the mats in my understairs storage area.
And we did not move for 7 years and some of the boxes we used to move in to the flat I used to move out again :rotfl:

Junk expands in direct proportion to the space available to house it!
I reckon the stuff at the bottom is squashed flat by the weight of the junk on top of it so as you remove stuff from the top the stuff at the bottom spreads out again so in effect you are not gaining anything.. unless you get rid of the whole pile or the stuff at the bottom does eventually decompose!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Hi all,
Just came back from my hols which were fab and have two buyers for my books on Greenmetropolis, so the decluttering continues....
I also have a box for the charity shops and some items for freecycle which I will get shot of this week.
A pile of ebay items are sitting in waiting in the spare room.
Just before we went on holiday, we ripped out a load of tongue and groove from the utility room with a view to completely replastering, installing a sink, tiling and putting in kitchen cupboards so I now have bags and bags of wood to take to the tip.
Unfortunately, this has meant that the contents of the utility room have had to be moved into the dining room so I am back into mayhem there, but hopefully it won't be for too long.
Onwards and upwards! Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

This week:
IN: errrrr, shorts and a sweater for pole dancing exercise class thing
2 new cushions for bed
2 New white pillowcases for bed
A dress for a do I have in October
About 20000 cans of diet pepsi, on offer in tesco and Asda
2 new pairs of pyjamas
OUT: An old TV (left outside for anyone to take, it went in 3 hours)
Old freeview box (left outside in same manner)
Rubbish & paperwork
Posted ex's shaver and some paperwork he forgot
2 Empty cans of diet pepsi
Clearly, im not doing too well at this. Oh well, at least its payday on Friday - im allowed one treat and then im splurging the rest of it on clearing debt asap. Cant decide whether the treat should be shoes or a top ive had my eye on though. Either way, im going to do several hours of solid decluttering this week, you mark my words... The next post will be nothing but OUT!!
