Small ad at my local shops for a company that comes in and declutters for you - sorely tempted!

I've been a bit of a lurker on the old thread coz I can't match your sterling efforts all of you but I need to get going. I've just sold one thing on ebay (or set of 3 strictly) which has been hanging around unused since I got it >20 years ago:eek:

I kind of bowed out last time because I was so ashamed of my poor efforts.
This time, Last week when the kids went back to school I filled the car up with old clothes and got rid. That's mine and DS's gone. I took one of hubbys old coats as he's got loads and they're all huge! It'll be a long time before he notices and it's already gone so tough!
Not getting rid but utilising, our open fire that we bought in February or spp is being fitted on Friday so we can then fit the skirting boards, the coving (while the furniture is shifted) and get the window finished. Then my curtain pole can go up and I will have curtains instead of plasterboard for the first time in months.
DD's clothes are all in a black bin liner ready to be sorted.
They both want to go through their toys, both have birthdays coming up soon!

Coming in at the weekend will be 2 new doors. They won't be fitted for a while as the room needs to be plastered and they'd be damaged but the sale is this weekend so I want the 10% off!
Also put cats litter tray out in back garden on Saturday and no accidents so may be able to get rid of it too?

I would really like to join this thread if thats ok. There must be two of everything in this house, i don't know why i do it but i have to get rid.

Our bedroom is covered in stuff i'll say i ebay but never get round to doing, the kitchen has loads of plates, cups etc on top of the units that are packed with plates, cups etc :rotfl:

We're hopefully starting building at the end of october so the clutter needs to go at the same all units are being thrown out (because of damp, there barely standing) so need to ebay to get the money to buy the new ones.

I'm going to start today and keep going, will report back later.
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.

  • Hi everyone

I subscribed to the other thread with clear aspirations on my decluttering but it doesn't seem to have happened.

So like someone above I am joining the new thread and will declutter!!!

At the weekend I managed to do my daughters room, we moved it all around and threw out everything broken. Job well done.

My big problem is my bedroom, I sell books on Amazon and every week I was collecting new books to sell until I realised I couldn't keep on top of it so cancelled that but now my bedroom is full of books I have sorted ready for listing because the shed is also chock a block!!!!

I have been giving this serious thought and have decided to take a week off work unpaid to get my house back to the straight and narrow. I mentioned it to my manager yesterday and she will mention it to the big boss in time for my next day at work on Thurs.

Although I only work 3 days a week I also do voluntary work 2 days a week so basically have a full time job and for that my house is suffering.

Us Declutters - Onwards & Upwards!!!!

  • I read and re-read the last thread over and over and did nothing. Hubby is a major hoarder, every cupboard and drawer is bulging, ITS TIME!!
Going to start today, while he's at work! If you don't hear from me for a while, I'm trapped under a huge pile of junk!

We threw all our junk away when re-decorating last year. Or so we thought. I still have a garage and two rooms full of stuff that doesn't have anywhere to live after the furniture was put back in . Add to that baby clutter and you can't move without tripping.
I keep kidding myself that one carboot will sort all my troubles. HAH!
I wish I had the genes to chuck stuff away (tip or freecycle), but I seem to think it is all worth something . I still can't get over the carload of perfectly usable or new items hubby made me chuck in the skip when we had no replies on freecycle . The waste!

Out - just the usual bin bag
In - Well, I went to two carboots on sunday, so you can imagine...
    :wall:
  • oooh can I join in please - I seriously need to declutter & fast, I am expecting baby number 3 in January an we live in a small 3bed house so what was the spare room (read dumping ground) is now going to be a nursery

I have read the old thread and always wanted to join in, but felt I'd left it a bit late in day, so to speak. Please can I join now?

Piquant took the words right outta my mouth (well outta my head anyway)

I'm determined to get rid of our old Junk so I have room to replace it with more NEW Junk this Xmas :rotfl:

We have ordered and filled 3(yes 3) full size skips in the last 18 months. Now granted some of that was big stuff like kitchen cupboards but the majority was just Tat. Might sound reasonble if we lived in a mansion but its an average sized 3 bed semi :o

Every drawer, cupboard, nook and cranny are packed and yes we do expand our junk to fill every available
space  I regularly fill the door to door charity bag and Ebay any sellable tat but it just seems to breed over night.

I'm hoping putting it all down in writing will concenrate my mind (well thats the theory)
