Have spent all afternoon sorting out my wardrobe and drawers and now have three bin bags heading to the charity shop when it re-opens on Monday.
Bought the holdall of clothes down from the loft (put up there two years ago when I gained weight) tried everything on (it now fits!) and I now have loads of 'new' clothes to wear.
Had five new pairs of pj's for Christmas, so have thrown five old pairs away.Married 19th May 2011 to the love of my lifeCross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44CSC Challenge - to complete LEGS by end of December

Totally finished my study today and now have a clear desk apart from one pen pot and one small stationery tray with calculator, stapler and hole punch ready for studying.
In
New pyjama bottoms
Out
4 binliners of assorted rubbish
Old wedding photos sent to ex
Binliner for charity shop inc remote control cars, candlesticks, collection of glass pebbles, old cutlery tray (not sure why this was in my study)
2 Binliners of recycling - old cards, letters, study notes
3 shoeboxes of dvds sold to musicmagpie
pile of books for library donation
I organised all my notes from my degrees and courses with textbooks ready to go to academic bookshop for possible sale. Also threw out old pens that didn't work, copies of emails etc ex sent me, newspaper and magazine cuttings I don't even know why I'd kept. I now have a shelf for my art materials, diary and memory box and my stationery organised so I can see when I need more envelopes etc. All I have to do now is catch up on paperwork!
Tomorrow is my store cupboard - it has Xmas decs, paint, diy stuff, boxes, old souvenirs/decorative stuff, duvets and towels so it's going to take a while."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." Paul Theroux0 -

I am pretty good at clearing out all the old rubbish we accumulate, as is DS1, but DS 2 (nearly 14) has a veritable treasure trove of toys in the cupboard in his bedroom that he no longer wants now he is a teenager. I've already listed and sold some of his books/DVDs on Amazon, so he has made some money, but does anyone know if toys and games sell well? I think I will try, but I don't know anyone who has done it
if you search the forums there is a great thread about selling on amazon. i think its predominantly about selling books, but im sure someone there could offer advice.
another option for board games or similar that are in good condition is to donate them to a local children's ward, doctors surgery or hospice, they always seem grateful for things like that.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Hey! It looks like I could learn a few lessons from this thread! There's far too much clutter in our household but as fast as I can clear it out my well-meaning m-i-l seems to send a miscellany of things over.
However, having our garage floor painted this week and household flooring done the following week has pressed the issue and I'm feeling as though I'm making progress. I've Freecycled two bags of children's clothes, various books, language resources and radiator reflector panels today. Added to that there are four sackloads of stuff ready to go to the charity shops and about the same again gone to skips or in recycling bags.
I've sorted through two drawers of pens and crafty things so after months in my former study my son now has the use of two more drawers for his clothes in his 'new' bedroom. I'm about to have a look on ebay to see if it's worth trying to sell any of the bits and pieces on there at the moment.0 -

Thanks for that - I will have a look. My doctors surgery doesn't take games, and the hospital are over run with stuff at the moment - I've already donated a dolls house (mine!!!) to them!

I've shifted bundles of toys on freecycle and palmed tonnes off on the charity shop. Some nurseries/school will take toys and games.. it is worth asking and if you have a local youth group they are usually short on games because bits get lost/stolen/broken.
Failing that wait until the weather is mildly improved and stick him out the front to do a 'jumble sale' and the proceeds are his!!
unusual stuff/characters stuff usually shifts on ebay not for a huge amount but it's better than nothing!.. the older stuff.. heman/star wars etc sells for a fortune sometimes.. definitely needs a bit of research though into what you have and what is worth selling.
Or list the lot and count your losses at the end!
Today I am going to sort through all my ebay boxes.. it is getting unruly!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Thanks Pigpen - getting rid of them by donating is absolutely no problem - he just wants to make some money! He has donated some stuff, he isn't that materialistic! I think I will list them on Amazon - there is nothing valuable or collectable, but it's all in good condition.Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

Delved under the kneehole of computer desk (did it last year -what happened ????_and sorted out the 4 wicker baskets.............one has papers in it I need to keep
Next one has been left empty as I know what papers are going in it
to replace shoe box of half done airfix models -OH says not to get rid yet
(They were 1st OH's and current OH wants to have a look )
Another has water colour pens in and tin of felt tips - keeping all those
Top on has garden stuff like seed packets and labels
Hat box now sits on top with all my card making ribbons in
Small tool box that used to house small card embellishments is now empty -embellishments going to girl next door -tool box is going to be first aid box for the car (I think)
Hessian bag sits bit the side of this lot with magazines in I want to keep for reference
So..............not great deal chucked out but at least now I've stuck luggage type label on each basket so I know whats in them :T
Didn't take as long as I thought so just might delve under kneehole of other desk later.
Have decided to get rid of small set of shelves in lounge and stuff on it - gathers dust (I think -haven't looked too closely............lol) and I've a picture currently with no home.Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !
