I'm blaming my Dad..........lol He kept anything and everything much to Mums disgust............result ? When he died I added his stuff to mine !!! All of a sudden I couldnt see the wood for the trees so something had to be done. It was hard but I did loads last year then christmas came along and I kept things for making things out ofand now have two boxes of that sort of stuff that needs a home somewhere in the house -after I've sifted through and chucked out the real rubbish !
I do have a tendency to buy the daftest things - have an obsession for those wooden notebooks with leaves on them........much too nice to use but taking up space much needed -young foster lad came up with an idea of hanging them on the wall with those plastic covered plate hangers -perfect ! I can enjoy them (yes I know it sounds daft) and thin out some pictures I'm a bit tired of looking at.

    So............thats my excuse/reason:rotfl:

You don't get the funny looks at the checkout when you buy them online.:rotfl:Found some packet Rice the other day from 1998, and some Sweetners from 2002, 500 Paracetamol from 2004 (Took to Chemist to dispose) and oh so many drinking glasses and crockery and not one of them matched. I promise to take them to the Charity shop one day.:p
My Mind wanders, if found please return.

I've heard about Minimalists in a book I've got somewhere on decluttering. How do these people cope without the excitement of not knowing what is going to fall out of the cupboards next? :p

I just want to be able to open a cupboard!!

It didn't come from my parents for me. When me and dh met we both owned our own home so 2 lots of everything but not much disposable income, we were married with a child in less than 3 years, so I never wanted to get rid of our surplus good stuff, cos eventually I could replace it for free from 'stock'.

DH has squirrel tendancies though, not as bad as sil who once saved every pair of shoes her daughter had ever worn upto about age 10. I put those down to FIL being in army and them having to move every few years and get rid of a lot of stuff each move.

They're miles better than the Tesco value ones, they are like a luxury brand compared to those! I did my online grocery shop with Tesco for years and switched recently to Mr S - miles better, better fruit and veg, better substitutes, better everything really - and certainly better toilet roll :D I'm not likely to ever run out (whilst doing this weeks shop, I've noticed they do 12 packs - stuck a couple on the order to be on the safe side!).

    Hi :D

Can I join this? I hoard a load of rubbish and I really want to get rid of it all!

I think in a way, i'm quite lucky because we've only been living together for 18 months and nearly all the junk is mine so I won't mind throwing it away. We haven't gotten to the stage where we have loads of plates/cultery/old food etc, hopefully I can keep on top of that. At the moment, i'm drowing in cardboard boxes and clothes :o

I think my hoarding comes from my mum, growing up our house used to be a total tip, nothing ever got thrown away and when she moved, she had to hire a skip  :rotfl: And now she is the complete opposite, her new house is pretty much empty!!

Anyway my decluttering will officially begin on Monday when OH goes back to work and he's out of my way :D I will keep you updated on my progress :j
 Think happy & you'll be happy
    I :heart2: my doggies
