My Oh has every payslip he's ever had and when I had a flakey and started shredding old documents from 3 houses ago ( and 12 years ago) he went mental!! ...

If he insists they must be kept I would put the papers in boxes, sorted by year is best, and label the boxes clearly. Then store the boxes in maybe the loft or garage.

you can then point out to him in, say, 2 years time that he's never actually needed any of it :D

Could I please join this thread?

I really need to get my house and life in somekind of order, its driving me around the bend.

Its everything from paperwork and toys.:o

I will be coming back to this thread over the time.
    Me too :o
It was bad enough before Christmas, but now...

I got rid of two black bin bags worth of rubbish (granted, most of it was packaging from my online orders, but still!) last week, but I've just filled another two last night! I also have a drawer-full of stuff ready for ebaying, it's just the getting round to it :o

Hopefully this thread will be the push I need :j
  • Hopefully 2009 will be the year will finally get more ruthless and get rid of lots of stuff :D. The last couple of days it has been all stuff in and very little out LOL. today I am going to list our old dyson on ebay and hopefully that will be another space using item gone! H x

  • Welcome newbies

Kitchen still under construction, but all the cupboards have been cleared. What a load of carp in them, why do I keep empty margarine tubs  Found about 10 rolls of kitchen foil, and don't ask how old some of my packets and tins are :o

Anyway, apart from stock which is filling two bedrooms, I am never getting in this mess again (until next time) :rotfl:

  • Today is "black bin day" so I will be putting more stuff out this am.

Going to be popping into town this afternoon as I will need to get my DS b'day pressie so going to look for storage boxes and ideas.

Well, I've got another black bin bag to take to the dump, so that makes three in total; I have one bin liner full of toys and silly things that my ex gave me - would a charity shop take them?; and I put 6 bags worth of clothes in the clothes bank when I went to the bank earlier.

I also have more stuff to ebay :o

I just decluttered my 'cupboard under the sink' (aka cleaning cupboard!) and found I have 4 full bottles of washing up liquid, 8 full cans of furniture polish, 6 unopened packs of dishcloths, 5 of dusters, 2 of microfibre cloths, 2 packets of brillo pads, 8 (!) unopened packets of sponges, 4 full bottles of multi-purpose floor cleaner stuff (1 of which is a seasonal fragrance from Sainsburys from last Christmas!), 3 full aerosols of lighter fuel, 4 packs dylon whitener, 5 unopened boxes tesco value dishwasher tablets and a pack of morrisons dishwasher powder from before our last house move 2 years ago plus all the half bottles of things I use :o.

It would seem that I just use the stuff at the front of the cupboard and buy more if I can't see it in there . That'll be one habit I need to change, then.

Another habit that needs changing is using a duster or dish cloth once and then throwing it to the back of the cupboard when washed - I have no idea how many I found, but the dishcloths fill a carrier and the dusters over half fill one :o.

Not a huge lot done but seems a lot to me...................cleared out the three drawers in computer desk..........amazing the stuff I'd printed out that I didn't need ! Total waste of ink and paper -must change that habit !!
So - only managed a shoe box and a carrier bag stuffed with paper !

Tomorrow I'll be filling in my diaries (OH insists its bad luck to do it before new year !) so all my dates/appointments will be noted and the 'organiser' I got can be started with a list of 'stuff to do'.

    HI Mary

I'll do all my calendars and things tomorrow too, can't possibly do it before I can hang the new calendar and I can't possibly hang the new calendar before 01/01 :o

My paperwork is about the only thing that is organised in this house, everything filed neatly and checked and dated as soon as the post drops through the door - I did 18 months of paperwork in one go once and learnt the hard way so now it's done immediately :rotfl:
