I would like to join this thread if that's ok! Today I have been working since 8.30 to declutter and have just finished for the day (although there are still some niggling bits to do so I will potter about this evening and do them). The garage and part of the flat is done phew. Now I need to get on with some work so need to stop decluttering for the moment. Also found some more books to put on bookmooch so very happy with that as well!0

Hello everyone, just thought I'd pop in. After waiting all year I gave several egg cups to the easter spring fayre with creme eggs in them, only to win one back in the tombola.
I have several toiletry bags, mainly unused xmas pressies waiting for the next place to donate to - likely the school's summer farye.
I have already put the kids winter clothes away as I decided they could put a cardi or fleece over the top of their t-shirt if they were cold.:p Yet again as I get the next seasons out I wonder why I saved some stuff as they have now outgrown it.:o It's all gone into the 'rag bag' for next weeks colection.:T0 -
This thread inspired me to clear out the newspaper basket.
Out : Several magazines, some of which are still sealed in the plastic. I have cancelled the subscription and these are now going to a friend
Also, some books from the book club, one of which was ridiculous. I hope someone else enjoys it. These are going to the charity shop0 -

Can I join you too please, I seem to be constantly buying new stuff and cluttering the place up, paperwork piles everywhere is another thing that drives me mad. Hopefully the in and out posting will help :beer:0

my biggest mistake was always the
right I am going to tackle this in a
big way and really clear out everything
I would end up with stuff piled everywhere
in a real mess and creating more mess than
I intended clearing and then gettimg fed up
and just chucking everything back in cupboards
drawers etc.
So if you are hopeless like me !
do it in stages, dont pull out everything
get some bin bags and one of those
large blue carrier bags from IKEA (25p)
or similar.
one bin bag for rubbish
one bin bag for clothes, fabric etc
one bin bag for recycling
and the blue bag for charity shop
Dont pull out everything to see what you have
open a drawer and sort and clear everything in
it before you move on to tackle anything else
like wise lift out things from cupboards or shelves
and decide on the spot what you are going to do
with them ,rubbish,recycle,charity or keep
set yourself a target fill each one
and then stop.
If you have a bag full of rubbish
chuck it out,put the recycling in the
recycle bin and take the blue bag
to the charity shop as soon as poss.
Do this every day for a week and
you will have shifted a fair amount.:j:j:j0 -
Well said Rosekitten:T and welcome to everyone joining this thread. I've found it really helpful to see how other people are decluttering and I also find that if I've done something coming and writing down what I've done helps too - all the small things soon add up.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
