Apple delight - found it on here somewhere, i'll see if I can find the link (give us a minute or two
).
cw18 - Ohh I didn't know that ! (got mine from a car boot sale so no instructions  ) I shall refrain from doing so for the rest of the afternoon.
Ok, I can't find the post where it was (which is why I always write them down ! lol) but here's the recipe:
2lbs cooking apples (or granny smiths)
8oz self raising flour
7oz porridge oats
5oz demerara sugar
5oz granulated sugar
8oz raisins
2oz finely choppe crystalised ginger
5oz marg
pinch salt (I didn't put this in and it tastes fine)
Grease and flour a 10" by 10" tin
Rub marg into flour and salt
Att oats and dem sugar and sprinkle half on to bottom of roasting tin
Peel and core apples, chop finely and add half onto the tin (on top of the oaty mix)
Sprinkle on half of the gran sugar, then half of the raisins and half the ginger
Repeat the apple/sugar/raisins/ginger layers
Add remainder of oats mix and press down.
Bake for 50-60 mins 180c/gas mark 4
Serve hot with custard or eat cold !
Tis very yummy ! Good for portioning up and freezing too.
Enjoy !
Going to have a big baking/preserving sort of day on Saturday....must sort all these apples out!
I need to sort out and clean the freezer and informed DH last night that he must now eat all the remaining icecream as it is wasting space for hm goodies!! For once he had no objections:rotfl:
Think I will be adding this apple delight to my cooking list. Sounds very nice! Thank you for the recipe.:AI am somebody. I am me. I like being me. And I need nobody to make me somebody! Louis L'Amour0 -
Hi everyone,
i need to ask a quick question to Weezl or to anyone else who has made the apple cheese recipe.
Do the jars need sealing in a pressure cooker or similar or do they tend to seal themselves once the lids are on?
The reason i ask is that when i made jam the jars sealed themselves and the recipe said that this was enough, we are still eating the jam several months later and it has kept fine. I`m hoping that the apple cheese is the same.
If anyone made it what did you do?
Thanks
SD
All you need to do is cover as with jam...... wax disc and cellophane with elastic bands or just a srew top, preferably new.
Using a pressure cooker is to preserve uncooked fruit so cooking them during the process while preserving them in larger qualities without so much sugar.
Don't forget to label with contents and date, almost had gooseberry chutney on my toast!

Must thank Weezl again for the lentil pate, made some today and its gorg! I love so much. Also made some bread rolls which are a bit too big but they were a bit stickier than usual so I had trouble portioning them out, i was also in a rush so now have big baps fwnah fwnah!!:rotfl: I also used my kenwood chef for the first time and made bread, some of you might remember my mixed success with bread making before, well now I have a chef to do the kneading bit and its worked well. Now have 2 loaves that look great, kids are happy with it, me too! Trouble is the chef jumps all over the worktop and I didn't even get above 3 on the dial! Thought it was going to fall into the sink at one stage!
Got Bean Stew from the freezer for tea so we'll try the bread then!0 -
anyone know if you can freeze tuna casserole. Just getting ready to have some for dinner and have no doubt that there will be some left. Especially as I dont care for fish but will eat small amounts of tinned tuna. Any info gratefully accepted and thank you

another silly question but wondering if I made apple sauce if I would be able to jar it just like jam without added use of a canner?

Still lurking & trying to catch up with all of part1 of this thread!!
Just wondered as I'm writing the recipe down . . . could I substitute creamed coconut or coconut milk in the turkey korma? Going to give it a go tomorrow night since it's been so highly recommended & I have both of these in my cupboard at the moment
Cheers0 -

I made the lentil pate for the first time on Tuesday, and the chicken liver.
Re dough in the chef, the mixer should not be higher than 1 or it will jump about. it will knead well enough on the lower setting, but it is a lot of weight to throw about at higher speeds. Do you need an instruction book? Must have my old one somewhere, but I think you can get Kenwood to send you one, did I get that from the chef thread?
Glad the bread is working for you, I am still trying to make space in the freezer so I don't have to make some every night. Got some rolls proving now, a bit earlier than normal, so I might get an early night.
