  • i have a massive plastic bowl that i've just used to mix (first weezl recipe batch) the bread in, i've made a half size batch as i haven't got ANY freezer space at the moment, but i really wanted to make bread again.
have it rising at the moment and am almost salivating in anticipation :D:D

Edit: OMG that is some nice bread, OH is drooling and trying to take the loaf i've sliced a bit from and eat it all, Weezl, thank you, that is so much quicker than any other bread i've tried and far nicer!!

  • Weezl,

I've just made a batch of your sun-dried tomato & rosemary bread, and oh my word! Yummy yum yum yum! :rotfl:

Frugality has never tasted so good!

Looking forward to more of the recipes that are baking and simmering away as I type!

    Thanks so much!

  • Haven't read everything (sorry) - so hope I'm not duplicating ... badly need to sit down & catch up with this thread ... it's been a week or so & it moves sooooooo fast!

Anyway .... nappies ... afaik E-Bay don't do reusable nappies because it violates their 'used underwear' policy :rolleyes:

When we were expecting dd (she'll be 6 in January) we shelled out £200+ on a birth-to-potty set of nappies & while they've been OK, and most have survived our 3 children, we wouldn't do the same again. It turns out that they weren't the best choice for us ... you can't tell these things until you actually have a baby imo ... and we've ended up replacing a lot of the covers (wraps) & a fair few nappies too ... so the inital outlay has been added to over the years. We're expecting our fourth just after Christmas, and tbh I don't think many of our original nappies will still be in service by the time our third has finished with them. I've already cut up quite a lot of our prefolds to make into shaped nappies & from memory, only the newborn wraps are still usable (bear in mind that my boys were both born too big for newborn clothing lol)

Hope this is hepful to someone ... and if you could all please slow down with the posting, maybe I'll be able to catch up with y'all :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  • hi, on the second hand reusable nappy front ... i was just talking to a friend who had used reusables ...she tells me that there is a website that specialises in selling second hand reusables! i just did a yahoo search and it was top of the list! (not sure if i can put the link!)

i wanted to use reusables, but i was working fulltime as a nanny with ds, and didn't think it fair to fill my employers house with smelly nappies!! or to have to transport them! with dd, i used disposables as easier.

i know lots of children who do wear reusables, but you need to watch what clothes you put the children in ... most clothes are too tight around the bottom, as they are designed for the slimmer fitting disposable! my friends sons lived in track pants until out of nappies!

as a childminder i would use reusables if that is what a parent wanted and supplied, but would also request a few disposables for ease for days out etc!

  • Morning lovely weezelites, weezle, am, fergus and newbies!! (getting like the academy awards this...and I'd like to thank my mum..!!). Just catching up! Lol re the weezl/vs ceridwen un convention! Our weezl is a wondefully calm person which is good for a very up in the air me at times! As for being excited about fergus certainly am! Still feels a while away so am trying to temper my excitedness but its lovely to see/hear of the changes as our weezl and fergus grow togeather. Have explained to "him" already that I will always call him Fergus - even if its a fergalina!!! (that sounds ruuuude!!) and we suspect that he will say to mum & dad "why does that funny lady keep coming round? Cant you stop her...no say m & d with a sigh...we've tried but she keeps coming back!! What can I say I love the wee fella/felless already and he/she is on my daily chat to god list...
on the nappy front I have a faaaab idea which I forgot to share weezl...I have a huge ritz (as in the hotel) bath sheet which would make squillions of nappies! Plus there seems/feels something very right about it being pooped upon - almost s**** on the hotel and all it stands for (excess, ott, snobbery, fascade, overpriced and foods not that good imo...) vs the new me (trying not to be snobby, environmentally friendly, not wasteful, genuine and definately not false plus a simple but ok cook!)...whatch fink weezl?!! TBH I love it the more I think about it!!
On the food front I made my first apple crumble yesterday! Forgot the sugar in the top but bottom was quite sweet so got away with it but my preference would be for a bit sweeter but then I have a sweet tooth. Am chuffed though that I cobbled the "recipe" for the topping with almond slices, rice flour, flour, oats - minus sugar...bottom was apple, pear, butter and sugar and we had it wth cream. The main was pasta with loads of cheese (w whole pack!!), bacon, mushroom with salad and garlic bread...yummy and I hope a wee treat for fergus!! I do wonder though why it is that really yummy things (ie the loads of cheese) have to be so fattening...!
Anyway hope you are all ok? weezl am intreiged as to working out the price of elec - maybe you could work out how much it costs to run the fan in an attempt to get myself to stop using it or maybe just have an hour a day?!! I'm on scottish power gas & elec capped tarriff and the fan is 220-240-50Hz 2000w...good geeky task for you?!!

Another one here on Scottish Power capped until Sept 2009 (also on-line for further discount, and no standing charge option as our gas usage saves us a few quid a year doing this one ;) )
