Tomorrow holds lots of reading but am hoping to make twinks hobnobs with added cranberries and white choc chunks ,testing the recipe as i want to do this for pressies at christmas

    cookiesinajar.jpg

I reckon i will have to halve the recipe to use in a standard jar

then i will attach the recipe to the jar on a tag type thingy
all the recipient needs to add is butter and syrup[/quote]

Hi, missed the start of this - can you please point me in the right direction - looks great for Christmas pressies and maybe school fetes - feel free to PM if you don't want to post it again! Ta very much!:T

BTW Mrs M...while I am thinking about it....while in France I found a very similiar preserving gadget to the one you bought but yours is much nicer and better quality and the price was ummmmmm 199 euros!!! consequently I did not buy it! Yikes!!
    All the best

just popping in to do linky to my diary so people can see the things I made...hugs all...

they look great ISOM. I often think about making cushion covers - usually when I'm tempted to buy some, I'll think "oh I could make it cheaper than that" - but of course I never do!

Morning everyone ...... hope all is well xxx

Didn't manage to catch up last night (in bed by 9 :o !! lol)

I won't bore everyone with the gory details but basically we've found someone to share an allotment with. Lovely, lovely lady and she's more or less given us 5 rods  !!! Its a tad overgrown and needs plent of work doing to it (helping her do her bit too) but we've got it at the perfect time of year so don't have to rush getting it ready for next year. We're off up there this afternoon to make a start, and i'll make sure I take some pics. Am thinking of doing a little blog showing progress etc so any advice on some good sites would be welcomed !

Got stew and dumplings in the slow cooker (I managed to pick one up at the car boot at the weekend for £5 - it's a Paul Rankin one and it's 6.5 ltr capacity ! :T ) So, saved myself a few quid there.

Have put in my meat order with the butcher for the month (not sure how much it's going to cost but am picking it all up at 2pm so will let you know then - am thinking I might need to sit down when he tells me the total lol)

Went picking/digging at the farm over the weekend and have cut up and frozen 4 cabbages, 24 sweetcorn and will be doing a big batch of carrot soup this week. Last week for the pick your own so it was very cheap :D . Probably got enough veg to last the month so combined with the big meat order i'm hoping to come in around £200 for the month for 5 of us plus dog. Might be able to do it a bit cheaper, will have to see !

Right, better go get some work done, sorry for the long post :o

Edit: ISOM - cushions look great ! (reading backwards through the thread to catch up here lol)

Did try cushions once before but my sewing skills resemble a two-year olds ! I admire those of you who can sew, crochet, knit etc - just wish I wasn't so heavy-handed !

  • Hello everyone

Hope Weezl isn't too badly out of energy at the moment. I'm doing spectacularly badly at my food budget at the moment, because I am giving Slimming World a really strong bash again and that involves cooking lots and lots of different recipes to keep me interested - and therefore requires lots of different ingredients! I am currently on £25 weekly food shopping budget - I have previously managed on less than a tenner!!

Oh dear... well at when I'm back on track with SW I will see about cutting down again, and at least this time around I am eating value pasta etc.

What a day so far!! I think I need a holiday already!

200 work emails to sift through which now include 115 cv's to read *sigh* Boss has rang several times to add more tasks at lightening speed today. Really glad I work from home full time as also managed to do 5 loads of laundry YUCK and did however take the past hour and bit to read and catch up on the thread and have a spot of lunch. Always learn something new here, very nice to see everyone doing well.

Having a friend and her dd for dinner tonight so making a lasagna, dont care for white sauce on lasagna so using extra cheese instead.
Came home from holiday to lots of the toms finally a pretty shade of red WOOHOO!! so have toms, aubergines, courgettes, onions and peppers roasting in the oven to be put in the freezer later. Will do more of the same after making tea tonight.

Well, I am starting to waffle again *sowwy* and still have a mile long list of work items to get through today.....

Will peek in again later. Have a wonderful rest of the day everyone!

    Afternoon all

Nice to see you back munchki... €199 for a boiling preserver  for that price I would hope there was a little man inside who popped out and did all the chopping etc for me :rotfl: ..Im keeping my eye open for one for you ;) ..only reasonable priced ones though :D

Well Folks..after the weekend of huffing n puffing -I can now crochet :T -honestly you would think I had discovered the theory of relaivity :o :rotfl: but I HATE not being able to do something -especially when everyone says its simple :D
So here is the start of my blanky..its quite a close weave so should keep its shape well and keep me warm..can't wait for my new wools to come -I think everyone might be getting crochet blankies next year :rotfl: well I know 1 brother and his family spend a fortune on electricity and coal.. and don't have any snuggly blankets.. if they did -hopefuly it would save him some cash.. :T

I take it you work in recruitment or HR?

Not directly no, just one of the many hats that I have to wear in my current role with the company I work for! Have my little fingers in many little pies here, keeps me on my toes and am certainly never ever bored!!

Thank you for asking Plum Pie :)

Mrs M - when I saw the pan I about fainted! told my DH that for the price the thing should also make me the perfect cuppa and do the washing up after!! Could not believe it! If you do happen to come across another one, certainly keep me in mind as I would make very good use of it and am very interested in one.

Glad to be back home as well although it was the nicest holiday ever!
