Morning all,
Was thinking of making a lentil and veg bake today. Have an idea of what to do. But was looking for a recipe and was directed to this thread. Have looked in the threads at the beginning but cannot see it! Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Hello, I have survived the swine flu! Thanks for all your get well messages. Back at work today, but feeling really wiped out and 'frey' if you know what I mean. Hope I get through to the end of the day!!r.a.i.n.b.o.w wrote: »HELP! My cat keeps eating my plants!!
my mad cat can't resist eating anything green and leaf-like!
WHAT can I do to stop the cat? I have tried keeping the cat out of the room the plants are in, but to no avail (especially with the summer here and needing the doors/windows open for air/breeze).
HELP!
Thanks!:j
If you can get your hands on a small amount of chicken wire I would try making some kind of cage or cloche to place the plant pots into/under. Or, ironically, if your cat's basket is one of the open wire-work sort, you could put the pots in that!
We had to fence in our veg patch because the cat liked using the freshly dug earth as a 'convenience'...

Hiya guys,
Glad you had a good meet, sounds nice:D maybe when I'm over next we can arrange something. My son's always trying to get me to move over there but as I don't know anyone, it sounds very daunting to me.
Have a good day all

I'm TRYING to grow my own (in a pot my very small flat), but one of my cats keeps eating the whole plant! I most recently lost some Pomodorino tomato plants - the tomatoes are VERY expensive in the shops and VERY delicious, I wanna grow them, but my mad cat can't resist eating anything green and leaf-like!

ok a few things i can think of that will hopefully put the cat off but not hurt the plant
a really good pest (of the bug variety) spray is to mix a bit of washing up liquid with some garlic (granules or minced) in a spray bottle with water. you spray this on the leaves and it deters most beasties as they don't like the smell and the glycerine in the washing up liquid wreaks havoc with their wings/feet etc
you could try spraying a mix like this on your plant to ward your cat off as he/she probably won't like the taste or smell. you don't use much washing up liquid so it wouldn't hurt your cat
OR you could leave some orange or lemon rind in a spray bottle of water for a few days to really impart the taste and smell into the water, then mist your plant with this. i shouldn't think the citrus would hurt your plant (though you may want to google that to find out) but most cats hate citrus smell and will shy far away from it
hope one of those works, best of luck!0 -

Soup just makes me crave bread & butter, and I'm hungry after an hour (even without the bread)
must say it does work for me. Haven't ever thought of it as a good way to reset portion sizes, but it makes sense.
There was a very interesting experiment on TV a little while ago where they took a meal of chicken, vegetables and rice with a glass of water and served it to 2 groups of people. One group had the meal on a plate and the water in a glass. The other group had exactly the same meal whizzed up into a soup with the water. Several hours later they scanned the tummies of both groups and the soup group all had a lot of food still in there tums and keeping them feeling not hungry, while the meal on a plate group had empty tummies and the food had moved down to the intestines and they were starting to feel hungry again.
I already knew soup worked well for me, but this made me even more keen to have more of it in my never ending battle of the bulge!
What do you have in your soups rainbow? Do you just have veggies in them which might be why you feel hungry again quickly. If you do, adding 100g of red lentils or any other beany type protein to a 4 portion soup might help
