Just a quick post to say thanks for the ham links and ideas. I cooked my gammon last night and made sandwiches for DS with HM bread and ham. I will slice the rest today and freeze it in bags of four slices to prevent snacking from the fridge!

  • So, last night I watched the second (recorded) episode of Economy Gastronomy. I was *amazed*. I think you get so used to frugal living that I can't even comprehend the level of spend that must be "normal". Even their economy reduced weekly budget was 4 times our budget for the whole month! I admit they were a family of five and we are only two people, but per person that still works out to 5.5x our budget per person. I think they could learn a thing or two form this thread! Having said all that, it was a very interesting programme and I applaud the families for making changes which to them are life-changing. One step at a time, eh! They will be on here before you know it...

What has anybody else thought of the programme so far?

    Shaz

    Hi Shaz,

Thanks for the link. I've seen the parsely soup site before but I've never gotten around to making anything from and it these sound yummy! I was thinking just yesterday that I need to use up some of the huge tub of peanut butter I bought so this is most serendipitous.

And no ISOM, you didn't scare me! Everyone was very lovely, especially cute little Fergus. Have been nursing a poorly cat for the last few days so have been fairly distracted but he's been to the vet and is lots better now so I can focus on important things like MSE again:D
