Hi everyone.
Just a quickie as I'm going to Poundland to stock up on toothbrushes in a little while. Also sugar if they still have it in. If I see anything amazing I'll report back. I MUST only take £5 with me though or I end up spending £20:eek: :rotfl:

Hi all,
Got an easy cheap storecupboard soup that's also WW friendly.
Tomato and bean soup:
Chop and fry an onion add a little stock and cook for a few minutes (I added a bit of left over bacon too for extra taste).
Add some garlic,
a tin of beans (I had pinto but it suggested borlotti)
a tin of chopped tomatoes
and 1.5 pints of stock
Then add some frozen mixed veg (I had peas and green beans)
Add seasoning (I added some basil too).
Made 4 servings and is meant to be 2 ww points per serving.
And tasted much better than I ever thought!!! Only took 20 minutes to do too!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
elfin, thanks for delurking:T:T:T:T
your budgeting sounds like it's been going really well- any tips you have for us?;)
sashanut, a recipe eh? well it's slightly approximate, but melt half a block of asda marzipan with some concentrated cordial (try 50ml) and a splash of milk so you get a runny syrup. then allow to cool but not to set (blood temp is fine...) in the mean time, whisk 500ml double cream until at firmish peak stage, then genly fold the almondy elderfower syrup through it with a metal spoon, trying not to knock the air out. freeze for 4 hrs. Enjoy!

Whoah, what are you trying to do to us Weezl, that sounds amazing but am not even going to think about it whilst trying WW, well, I shall try not to think about it.... Nope, not going to work, not sure a sugar snap pea will help me not to think about it... Nope, doesn't cut it. :eek:God is good, all the time

..and I'm still feeling astonished at the thought of being able to buy 12 eggs for £1 (happy of course!) - I think mine are costing me about £1.30 for 6! I read so enviously of people describing farmers markets and farmshops as cheap places to buy things - not in my area they're not - bloomin' expensive more likely hereabouts...Not to mention those cheap Indian foodshops people mention - in my area they charge the same as everyone else.....
Weezl - whats BTS? (get the gist that it must equate to TDF - ie To Die For). Go on - expand my vocabulary lass..:D
Have you tried marks and spencers they do a wise buy - box of 10 free range eggs for £1.59. (their box of 6 is £1.58!!)0 -
On the subject of eggs, sometimes the Sainsbury's Basics eggs (usually barn eggs) contain free range eggs.
The last 2 boxes I've bought have been like this - 6 for 88p!
It's only a game

I have just made a batch of each.
The lentil pate, I made as per Weezl's original recipe, and its lovely
I think due to the increase in price, in products within the shops, the whole recipe cost me 77p to make.
The yellow split pea pate, I made slightly different... although I did follow Weezl's methodology
Split peas were soaked for about 10 hours. Instead of adding mixed herbs, I used cumin and paprika... just to produce a different flavour, ifykwim.
Also the peas did not require any breadcrumbs to be added, as the mix was quite dry... I had to add a little water (saved from the lentil water) to losen it up a bit.
The total cost for the yellow split pea pate was 54p :T
Taste wise...
The lentil pate is lush... a smoother pate.
The yellow split pea pate, is also very tasty... but has a nuttier texture.
I deffo will be making both again. :j
Many thanks for the idea
Potty
PS... tonights tea should have been stirfry...
But its a little of each pate, spinach salad and warmed pitta breads
The rest of the pate is going in the freezer.
Hello all, I've been away for a long time but glad to see you are all doing so well. Weezl so pleased to hear young Fergus is coming along nicely, he sounds like a lovely healthy young chappie!
Just a quick question, does anyone have a link to the yellow split pea pate potty mentions in the above post, I can't find it anywhere. Unless it's the same recipe as the red lentil pate but with yellow split peas?
Thanks for any advice you can offer.0
