Apparently elder cordial is lovely with the berries...as opposed to flower...will see if I can cadge recipe!

... and if anyone has some cordial made from the flowers, then incorporate it into a rich double cream almond ice cream (I made mine with melted marzipan).

DH says it's almost BTS :)

Love it! That is def worth a try then...

Though that wouldn't fit in well with trying to obtain the new svelte me! I went to my first WW meeting and sat feeling very uncomfortable, it is awkward doing that kind of thing, should have taken a buddy :)

Hiya all, hope all is well.
Not much to report this side. I keep going into the shops close by at about 8ish to see if there are any whoopsies, and there are either none or not as cheap as I think they should be.Seeing the bargains you lot get are making me not appreciate anything less than half price!

Sian, I'm trying to lose some weight too. I'm going to give myself until mid July and if I don't see significant improvement I'm going to try whatever class is close to me. What I'm doing at the moment is not depriving myself but trying to watch my portions and make sure I get my 5 a day. I don't have scales so I go and weigh myself in my local pharmacy every Monday so I have my own 'weigh in day'.
I should probably join the weigh loss thread here in the old style section.
Getting there... A deal at a time. :T

..and I'm still feeling astonished at the thought of being able to buy 12 eggs for £1 (happy of course!) - I think mine are costing me about £1.30 for 6! I read so enviously of people describing farmers markets and farmshops as cheap places to buy things - not in my area they're not - bloomin' expensive more likely hereabouts...Not to mention those cheap Indian foodshops people mention - in my area they charge the same as everyone else.....

Weezl - whats BTS? (get the gist that it must equate to TDF - ie To Die For). Go on - expand my vocabulary lass..:D

    Good morning Frugalistas,

Every morning I look forward to catching up with the news and fabulous frugal feasts created by everyone here. My morning just wouldn't be the same without all of you. Now, I've been reading, learning and enjoying for more than six months and this morning, "Elfin", I thought to myself, "it's really time you made yourself known and thanked all these lovely people". So, thankyou! My OH and I have been doing the £1 a day challenge since 1st January, (plus £1 extra each for everything other then food) and the adventure has been liberating and - to our surprise - fantastic fun! I've been encouraged and inspired by all your ideas, you have helped to make it possible for us. From now on I vow to join in and not just read!

Hi Elfin - it is fun, isn't it? :D
In a similar way our family is joining in and it's becoming second nature to be tapping away on the calculator working out how much a gram of this is or ml of that and costing a meal or treat.
We are getting such satisfaction at eating much more healthily and very frugally. I've even got the boys to eat dates now.

Have plenty cordial left over from last year's makings (time to make some more this year methinks) & sounds like something DH would really go for......I'm on the SW diet so I don't beleive it would feature for me:eek:BTS though? I might be tempted:D
