    :o I know I'm so rubbish!

Hiya all, hope everyone is having a good day.
I'm making smoked mackerel with lemon roast potatoes and mushrooms. I'm trying olive oil instead of butter.

I'm going to Mr S in a mo as I've realised I've run out of my prescription.

Hoping that I may be able to pick up some whoopsies. Wish me luck!

    Welcome Feefee x

I have decided that as my income has dropped so dramatically, I really must go back to the beginning of your travels, and get the enthusiasm back up to live for less. I have a cupboard full off odds and sods, and have got out of the habit of making anything. Since moving here I have not followed my Menu Plan at all. Its all been grab and random and we have spent a fortune on lunches especially.
I may be gone a while?????!!!!!
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Mooloo, see you in another 20 pages! :rotfl:

    *note to self
Superdrug is open on a Sunday*

Didn't get any real whoopsies, but I did get some cheese on special offer from the deli counter. Now tell me if this makes sense...The smoked cheese was reduced from £1.05/100g to 35p/100g, I bought 200g and the sticker read £1.50.

I politely explained that 35 x2 is 70 and the deli server looked at me like I was lying, and tapped away into the computer before relunctantly declaring I was right and changing the sticker.
I want to try making a tart at some point in the week. Maybe cheese and mushroom, or cheese and peppers.

You could make a pasta type sauce using your veg, adding tinned tomatoes/herb ect. And add the bacon for meaty bits.

How do you make crustless quiche ??

I have just returned from the shops, and got quite a few wee bits reduced.
I managed to get 2 chocolate Gu puddings, for 79p. They are normally £2 for 2. But they come in a little glass ramekin, so worth the 79p
And of course the glass ramekins, now sound like a bargain, if they can accommodate the likes of a crustless quiche ?:o;)

I am just about to start abit of a soup making frenzy, as I have no soup in the freezer

On the agenda is cullen skink, manhatten chowder and chickpea and garlic soup.

I managed to get a turkey drumstick reduced also to 89p... so I will turn that into a turkey/veg/rice type soup/meal thing for my parents. Not sure whats going it, as I have never made it before. I will have to dig out a recipe and see what sounds good.

And last but not least... Tesco have bags of spinach 2 for £1. I got some of that to make a spinach and smoked salmon quiche (value smoked salmon bits 88p) And I think the rest fo the spinach will become the wonderful looking spinach gnocchi ;)

Off to the kitchen now..... I may be some time :rotfl:

My Pastryless quiche is an assortment of veg and onion fryed in spray oil until almost done seasoned (depends on the filling todays is italian seasoning if i do smoked salmon i add dill ) the fried veg goes into a ovenproof dish . In a bowl beat 4 eggs and a tubfull of smartpice cottage cheese together season with salt and pepper then pour this over the veg put some sliced tomato on top for decotation and bake until set and golden

if i have this on a green day (sw) with some potatoes in fat free fromage frais its "free " equally nice hot and cold

    Enjoy

    hello everyone!

been busy working () and not had much time to do anything! and this evening thought i'd have a quicklook at mse/old style, and there it was ... this thread 'up and running' still! :T

just taken me quite a long time to catch up, and looking forward to hearing how everyone is doing!

as i've been busy, i seem to have slacked a bit in the frugal way of living, and am now inspired to get back to it!

anyone got any ideas for yogurt that seems to smell of brie? (i'm not that keen on yogurt, make it for the children, but this batch is 'interesting' !!!)

boiled and then roasted a value ham from mr T tonight. rather yummy! had some for tea, hopefully there will be enough to slice into sandwiches etc for the next few days ( caught Dh giving some to the cat! )

oh, and another question ... the children and Dh are currently addicted to wraps ... can they be homemade? i tried, but got pizza base type things!

    thank you all
    xxx
