I was reccommended on the grocery challenge thread to have a look at Costco's washing powder. They do a 400 wash box for £11 apparently
I know when I last bought this - about a month ago - it had gone up to £15 odds (sorry cant remember the odds).
I just wondered if this was quite a while ago, or recently.
I guess it could be different prices for different parts of the country.
Shaz.. the turkey loaf looks lovely  :T
I might try and do something similar with quorn or lentils on my days off
Thanks for the idea :T0 -

I think you could probably put this somewheres birds might find it - as in they might like to use it to "feather their nest" so to say. I did read somewheres recently that birds like to get a handful of human hair if they can to help with nest-building - so I guess they'd be glad of that as well.
....just as long as your furry friends dont start wanting "payment in kind"....perhaps you want to sit them all down and give them a "lecture" on "any birdcatching round here - and you wont be in my good books";):D0 -
I don't have a cat or a baby, can I still join in
Am having a great week for not having to cook, out for dinner 3 nights in a row, yum yum. Has anyone made their own pittas? I love them and have one toasted for breakfast each day, would be good to have home made ones. Also, on a related note do any of you get fresh yeast from the supermarket? If so what do you ask for? Thanks in advance!God is good, all the time
Do something that scares you every day

asda are the only ones round here still giving it away, but not on a sunday. I usually go to the entrance to the bakery bit, where they are all with the white hats and overalls, and when someone spots me just smile and say 'hi can I have some fresh yeast please?'. they give it to me, and we always pop it on the conveyor belt, but the checkout asst. just lets it go straight through...

thanks SG,
That's 2.74p per wash, so roughly the same as asda smartprice, and if I buy it now I secure a whole years worth of laundry at todays prices :money::money:
Morning all,
Just reading about the washing powder. Now I also use Tesco value powder. I just looked at the box, says 2 cups for main wash. Now thinking I was being MS I was using a yogurt pot to measure and using one. Just weighed it and it's 100g of powder!!!
Anyway, what I wanted to ask those who also use it is does it leave any white marks on dark washing? Since I swapped to this powder it seems to leave white streaks. OH keeps complaining and is nearly at the end of his tether. Am thinking either I need to use less or my washing machine is rubbish. Any thoughts anyone?:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j

I buy the Costco own brand dry food for my puddytat, it's either £10 for a 7 kg bag, or £7 for a 10kg bag. I can never remember which way round it is and my mother always buys it for me since she has a Costco card and I always just give her £10 for it.
Whichever, the cat really loves it, he's healthy as anything and has a beautiful coat and a big bag lasts me anything up to 6 months so it's REALLY cost effective.
Right from the cats being kittens I trained them to know what they'd have to eat what was down otherwise they'd go hungry so they were never picky about their food (although one of them tried eating plants last year and managed to poison himself hence he's no longer with us).
Anyway, cut a long story short I REALLY recommend the Costco dried cat food.
I wish the dog was as cheap to feed.0
