Frugal day for me as I avoided the temptation of the supermarket- tea will be oven baked enchilada type thingys- very yummy and all from the storecupboard.

Bahsful- sending lots of labour vibes your way. It must be so frustrating to just be waiting and waiting. I didn't take it easy yesterday as there was no-ne to cover my shift at work. I am paying for it big time today though as my back is so bad- I think I am learning that in pregnancy you cannot just struggle on....you have to give in and stop!

Planning to make my legendary spicy sweet potato stew tomorrow- will knock up some costings and let you know whether it is both frugal and delicious!

Really going to have to brush up on my muffin making skills as OH and I had 2 cappuccinos and 2 cherry muffins in a shopping centre yesterday and muffins were €2.75 each! Was horrified so think I will start bringing a flask and muffins in the car for when we fancy one.

    Good luck Bashful

Quick question Weezl, how long does the lovely lentil Pate last for? And can it be frozen?

yep, freezes fine! Erm, never lasts long enough to go mouldy in our house, but I'd say you'd be fine for a couple of weeks ;):D

Hi got-it-spend-it, would you mind and post your lovely recipes for these 2 dishes?

The enchiladas sound lovely and I would love to know how to cook these and I have a few sweet potatoes to use up and this sounds great.

    Much appreciated x

    evenin all,

    a mixed day here...

went to costco with all the requisite joining bumpf, letterheads, invoices, utility bill...

Had a good old look round just to check it'd be worth doing, yep, lots of things even cheaper than asda cheapest...

persuaded mum to go halves on the membership-£10 each :T:money:

and then couldn't join or pay for anything as I'd forgotten my bank card:rotfl:

still, it was a good reccie, and I'll go back with mum tomorrow.;)

Have just made a doctored version of ISOM's chocolate amaretti thing using brazils instead of the almonds and no orange zest... and asda cheapy dark chocolate. Bowl lickings tasted yummy, will report back in 20 mins about the taste :D

Was away in Europe a week ago and paid 10.63 euros for 2 lattes in Copenhagen airport :eek::eek::eek::eek: Didn't realise until it was too late as the prices were in Dutch kroner and I only had a 20 euro note (which they said they would accept). Good job we had packed snacks, etc, as the food prices were astronomical.

Hello, enjoying the new thread, thank you!
Ooh, has Costco opened in Cardiff now? Where is it? Used to go to Bristol, but the bridge is a pain....

    Oh no, isn't that typical?
How was the rest of the day?
How is your Mum getting on with the food?
Any more frugal facts from the Weezl home?

That's just the kind of thing I'd have done Weezl, I try and be crafty by leaving it at home but then forget that it's not in my wallet. D'oh!

Well utilising a couple of tins from my mothers cupboards (one of butter beans, one of mixed beans in tomato sauce) I made a bean cassoulet for tea. Turned out really yummy and plenty of leftovers to take for my lunch tomorrow. Costed it using Mysupermarket and it would've worked out at roughly £1.30 to buy the tins etc from Asda and yielded 4 good portions for serving with some rice. So about 40p for my cassoulet and rice.

I'm chuffed to bits, plus it'll be quite low fat too, added bonus! :D
