Ladies (and gents of course !)
I'd like to pick your brains if I may??
After hunting high and low for my slow cooker (we moved house last year and I thought it got put in the loft or something stupid like that !) - hubby kindly reminded me (he often has to do that !) that it broke and we got rid of it (I think I was a bit zombified during and after the house move lol).
So, what would you recommend? It has to be a biggie (5 of us) and fairly good quality (don't mind paying a bit extra if it's going to last and be a good one).
Would rather buy one that is recommended.
TIA xxCheryl0 -
Hi guys i have been inspired by the thread of feeding 4 for £20 how do we fancy a new challenge which would also help with the grocery challenge thread aswell.
Live off £15 per person for a month so for me it would be £30 total. The money i would of used will be put towards a debt, loads of receipes on the other threads and shopping at the right time for reduced stuff should make this acheivable anyone else fancy this?Save £1000 in 100 days 20th july - 22 oct - so far 25.000 -
right JTB - not sure about brands but check for capacity ie big oval is good or whole chicken/roasting joints also i find auto function invaluable i actually prefer cookworks (argos own) electrical their breadmaker was better than the M.R. one i have
Munchki dehydrators here
cookers v eating apples basically the same but cookers will mush down when cooked and eaters hold shape Jamie o does a nice pie which is a mix of the 2
Crumble i always go on a half fat to flour ratio and the same sugar as fat say 200g flour ,100g marg,100g sugar(plus more sprinkled on top)

wow shaz, that dehydrator looks really [STRIKE]cheap[/STRIKE] good value. Never used one, are they a good gadget to have?0 -
I recently got this one on the recommendation of a load of ladies on a crafting forum. I've done a couple of chickens and a couple of gammon joints in it which have turned out lovely -- and the chickens were about 3kg each !! Actually got mine from Curry's but they price-matched Tesco Direct (and they knock off an extra 10% of the difference as well)
I got exactly the same model, boxed and brand new for £6 from a charity shop..bargain find of the century as they had none on freecycle:rotfl:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -

 That's just impossible. What will you be counting into your £15 though?Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0

It s not impossible as mbaz is proving(feeding four of them on £20 for the month).
It would depend on your stores really ,i couldn t achieve it this month but it could be one for november to help save for decembers shopping bill, and clear space. I wish you luck in it though .Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -

Just thought you might be interested....my partner about 6 years ago did some work in a Morphy Richards' warehouse and they made all the "cookworks" range there. so cookworks are really M R.0 -
All the very best with it. Living like that is somewhat of a dream of mine, although I have no idea of where to begin. I'll be watching your progress though and helping if I can
with ideas and stuff
Continually trying the Grocery Challenge. Gotta keep trying!0
