- You can make a sausage meat pie, take some pastry, line a pie dish and chuck in the sausage meat and add in a diced onion, a tin of drained whole tomatoes (attack with a knife while still in tin if you want, to spread them out), maybe some cold diced potato or other leftover vege if you have some, and a few raw eggs not properly mixed in and a bit of salt/pepper and then top with more pastry.
- Use in meatloaf with mince, or use to extend mince in meatpatties or meat balls because it is generally cheaper. You can add herbs and spices and shape it into your own skin less sausages too.
- A recipe I got off an american website a while back was for some sausage McMoms or something, which is like a homemade version of something to put in a homemade sort of McD's type breakfast, or just a lunch snack for kids. You fry the sausage meat, about equivalent to 3 sausages worth, with a bit of onion if you want, until cooked. Then spread between a 12 cup muffin try or some other kind of try with small sections (gem trays or something?) Then you mix together a mix of about 3 eggs beaten, with some milk and a little flour (like the plain quiche mix I put in an ealier post in this thread only a little runnier) and pour some of this over each and cook. These freeze well and are quite nice for a light meal/ lunch. Can chuck a couple frozen in lunch box and they are fine especially when heated, but okay cold.
I am such a bit of this bit of that cook. I never use recipes just fiddle and it always works okay.

Hello everyone, I'm back on the WW now, even though I've running regularly I'm eating for Britain, and as it was my burfday last week, there was lots of chocolate cake, rice krispie cakes, chinese food etc! Yeek! I've signed myself up for 2 fun-runs (first one in 2 weeks! ) to give myself a committment to continue doing exercise. As someone (ISOM?) mentioned earlier sometimes its exercise thats needed. Given that I used to weigh 17stone and was allergic to sweating the very idea of me doing 10K is quite hysterical to me but I'm going to do it!
As I usually talk rubbish.....Since I've been more careful about what we're spending we've noticed that we're throwing out less rubbish too. Family of 4 and we're only using 1 & 1/2 bin bags a week plus recycling! We used to put out 3 bags a week! Council are just about to change our collection to once a week rubbish, once a fortnight recycling but providing us with a big wheelie bin for the recycling, also increased what they will pick up on the curbside so we might have even less. Recently rented a house in the Cotswolds for holiday and they had a very complicated bin system, allsorts of food (including cooked waste) was put in green bins, loads of recycling options and then general waste! We were only there for a week but it took us days to work out what went where and to accept that we could put meat and cooked food in the composting! Mind you don't think the owners had explained it very well, need some sort of chart!
Trying to get the house a bit more organised, been trying to follow Flylady so I should be cleaning the bathroom and toilet today. Also printed loads off the Organised Christmas website, trying to get myself sorted. Got my xmas card list sorted, soaking my fruit in booze as per MrsMacs xmas cake recipe, ready to make in half-term week. Just need to find out what the Out-laws are doing, when/if they are coming, so I can sort out menus and start budgeting and squirrelling away. Both of my kids were born in Dec so its a bit of a nightmare for me, have to start organising now and getting bits and pieces together slowly otherwise I have a nervous breakdown mid-Dec!:rotfl:
Anyway have a good day everyone! Will catch up later when my bathroom is sparkling and shining!
P.S. Anyone know where the Weezls have gone on hols? Can't remember if it was mentioned.0 -

I can't believe what a bargain I have got... Its the exact same one..for €30 / £24 ..not worth risking kn*ckering my good pans for that
So next season -wait n see what i try n bottle :rotfl:
If I was coming back to the UKany time soon I would have been taking orders for them and bringing em back for my "money saving buddies"
going to have a look at the instructions in a moment ..then put it away for this season ..poop... Could try bottling the rest of my tomatoes I guess..impatient or what :rotfl:
What happened to I'll be buying the steriliser next year:rotfl:
Dont worry when it comes to kitchen gadgets I'm just the same:D
You just know I want one of those now!

Does anyone have a Bonfire Toffee recipe? I bought quite a bit of Dark Treacle the other day
And does anyone have any other easy(ish) idea's to use with sausage meat I have in my freezer?!?!
Hope everyone is ok.
This is my invention with the sausage meat and it is delicious!! Hope you enjoy if you try it!
HERE
The only cinder toffee recipe I could find didn't have dark treacle in it.. but you can check on this thread here - The OS homemade sweets thread
Hope that helps

Hello raveylesley
Hmmmm now then, well, you see , it was like this *pauses whilst trying to think of convincing explanation*..ahhhh well In my defence (thats my usual opening line -when hubby knows I have done something :rotfl: ) You see... I figured that they are getting rid at that price because its near the end of the season... now if I don't get one until next season -they will be back at full price... which is sillyor I will have to wait until the end of next season
.. im sure that was convincing
hmmm ..Id would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids :rotfl:
If I was coming back any time soon I would bring you one with me.. hubby said I ought to get em on e-bay ..but you just know I would get left with loads of them :rotfl:
Well we had the soup for lunch (well some of it) and hubby loved it -not bad to say he can't stand sweet potatoes and there were 3 in there :rotfl:
I have 3 pints of milk on the stove with rice in -a few more minutes and i can switch it off.. The milk wouldn't have got used in time... so i can stick this in the fridge (hubby hasn't a sweet tooth  ) and I can have some with the stewed apples n blackberries when I fancy something swet...and I will have it for brekkie -not much different to porridge im sureand waste not want not and all that.. I would normally turn extra milk into cheese sauce and freeze in tubs -but I have no freezer space left... NOW next year I can bottle things and then have lots of room for such things
:rotfl:
This uses sausage...you could always add more

Gadget! Gadget! Did someone say Gadget?
(Another gadget gatherer here, though I must admit far too many of them are gathering dust in one place or another around the house  )Cheryl0 -
Mrs M, I would love to have one of those!! When I lived in the States, i had something similar and they are fantastic! You got a great deal to be sure
I used to bottle everything from jam to veg to salsa, have stacks of jars here but hate using the pan method as it bubbles over sometimes and just takes longer I think so been freezing, like you however I am completely out of freezer space at the moment and still have things to shove eerrr put neatly in there!
I am somebody. I am me. I like being me. And I need nobody to make me somebody! Louis L'Amour0 -
Mrs M are you sure you can't pop over to dover with me one:D

ooohhh noooo
I have started a gadget fever off  :rotfl:
Now then folks... The best I can do is take mine to the post office tomorrow and check the postage .. I have done it on line but it usually works out a little different when you get there because of the exchange rate.. But I priced it up around £16 to post ...... Munchki on the other hand -I could grab you one and bring it back when we next visit since you are 2 streets away from where i stay..my mums ..thing is im not sure when we will be coming back next
failing that folks I will test pilot this one and I will keep an eye out for them coming on sale again when im due home..can see hubby doing a delivery run through the UK
well I have rummaged n jiggled the freezer and managed to squidge enough room (by taking out some carrots and parsnips for cornedbeef hash tomorrow and some mozarella to finish off some pizzas the day after)for the rest of the soup and then to use up the milk I have made 3 batches of the tortilla dough -so have left those for dinner up here and then I have 14 balls of dough in the freezer :j
The rather big dish of rice pud has cooled and gone in the fridge, and I have made some coleslaw to go with the tortillas -filled with gyros meat, fried onions and tzatziki
Shaz... that machine looks good... I read in my instructions that you can bottle meat etc.. It would never have occured to me..will have to look into it..god there are gonna be some concotions going off when I get started :rotfl:
