I'm experimenting today...just peeled the taiters in readiness for tonight's meal & there were not as many as I'd hoped ssooooooo----

I've washed the peelings & laid them on a baking tray to dry. Then I'll spray with a little oil, sprinkle with salt & they can go in the oven while the sausages & roasties are cooking to make 'skins'......wuddiya think  ...roast spuds, yorkies, veg, onion gravy.....is it time for dinner yet :p

    Thanks Ravylesley

I have had a chat with mum -I knew she had hung her nose over the jam maker in lakeland when she went to look at the remoska (that she now has and is in love with lol)... When I mentioned it and the price -her voice went up an octave..so i know she is interested lol..
So hubby is taking me back to get her one on wednesday... and we will take it her back when we next go home -and then i will bring my jam pan and thermometer back (i left them with mum to use when we moved away).....
Its a bonus -as we will give it her as a birthday/xmas pressie -once we have finished arguing over her not having it without paying for it hehe

Well we have had liver, onions n carrots with mash, cabbage an nobby greens nomnomnom -im stuffed..
We didn't bother doing the asian supermarket today -so i think i will get hubby to take me on wednesday on our way back from fetching mums jammy pan ......
Feeling really happy now im getting the stock sorted for winter..hopefully soon we should be sorted -and able to cope with whatever the weather throws at us ...famous last words
right back to my knitting... have just found a site with some lovely wool at sensible prices ...woohooo i may be gone some time lol

Mrs M - could you pasta a link to the wool site please? I'm a knitter but sometimes the lovely wool is beyond my budget.

    Thanks Cherry x

  • welcome becky and thanks for coming out of lurkdom. Yes please to recipes - all love a recipe on here - esp a cheap one! Think I will be having sausages and mash for tea with swede! I love swede!! Was going to learn how to knit but instead will stick to sewing etc for now...enough money spend of late with craft things! Trying to me more frugal...

    I can't believe what a bargain I have got :D ... Its the exact same one..for €30 / £24 ..not worth risking kn*ckering my good pans for that ;)

So next season -wait n see what i try n bottle :rotfl:
If I was coming back to the UKany time soon I would have been taking orders for them and bringing em back for my "money saving buddies"

going to have a look at the instructions in a moment ..then put it away for this season ..poop... Could try bottling the rest of my tomatoes I guess..impatient or what :rotfl:

Cherry blossom - no problem I will get you that link in a moment :D

    Hope everyone is well

  • Hiya Peeps! I got a bit lost when the tread changed!!!! Trust me!
Does anyone have a Bonfire Toffee recipe? I bought quite a bit of Dark Treacle the other day ;)
And does anyone have any other easy(ish) idea's to use with sausage meat I have in my freezer?!?!

Thanks Peeps! Have missed the thread!!!!
    Hope everyone is ok. :)
  • Hi insearch

Ahhh well you see its a kitchen appliance..which happens to be my biggest weakness :p

Its a "preserving boiler"... so I can bottle veggies, fruit, passata , pasta sauces and keep them for longer and free up freezer space... You can do it in a big pan -but I like that this has a thermostat so I know that everything is at its correct temp..less room for error and me having stuff go off..
At £24 it was cheaper than risking doing it in my le creuset pans ;) or buying a big pan..
just taken mine out of the box and its the same but without the tap -which strangely enough I prefer as its one less thing to break/go wrong :rotfl:

Also I guess it will come in if we have to have the water heater off for any reason as I can get 29l of hot water :D ... do you get the impression im trying to convince myself that it was a very sensible purchase :rotfl:

Poop -foxy tigger -Im supposed to be getting my mums bonfire toffee recipe off her -its the best in the world lol... I will make a note and get it when i phone her in the morning

  • Rubbish is an interesting topic huh. I recycle everything I can recycle most of the time (get lazy when really busy :o ) and this reduced my rubbish right down, but good scraps still meant I had to get rid of my rubbish fairly frequently.

Here you pay per bag, bins are a lot more expensive, so I want to make a bag last as long as possible, by recycling as much as i can. Now, I have a pig scrap bucket from a friend to put all food scraps into and all that goes in rubbish is pesky non recyclable stuff, so a bag lasts ages :T :rotfl:

Considering a bag is only $1.50 this isn't such a major, but this per week which is what most people do is $78 and I do one about once a month, which is $18, which is a pretty cool savings, because who wants to waste money on rubbish anyway :p
