Sian - were you reading my mind with those recipes? I was only thinking this morning whether I should drink the two cans of Guinness in the fridge or try some sort of gravy/casserole with it
:rotfl: Not sure my DD would be very keen though

So pleased to see this thread active again!
I don't know if it's my baby brain or if it's just stupidity but I assumed boiled fruit cake was somehow boiled (I was thinking ala Christmas pud). Feel a bit silly now but must give the recipe a go as it sounds lovely.
Muffins also sound good and I have lots of bargain dried apricots to use up so might give that idea a whirl!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
gosh this is a very fertile thread with boodle and bashful and got it spend it!
watch yourself sian
gotitspendit, apricot muffins will be great for your bump too, full of magnesium I think!
semolina pudding for acetate monkey tonight, 20p per double sized portion. I made the amount it said on the packet served 2 people thinking he could have it another day, but no gentle reader, he scoffed the lot! I think it would be a very quick easy frugal pudding for weaning a fergus onto....not yet i hasten to add!

Shaz, am I doing price, calories, or ww points? I can do all three but it may take me a wee while! We could experiment with equivalent oil for butter, but then you'd've wasted all those lovely blueberries! Maybe I'll google it... Vegans must substitute oil for butter.... maybe ceridwen knows some links....xxx
Oil substituted for butter sounds about right to me - but I'm not a vegan....I'm a vegetarian.

and I'm sure either of them would answer any queries that anyone had on this and theres probably lots of useful stuff to be "mined" on their blogs...
(Apologies - I'm feeling a bit distracted at the mo - wondering whether my back door handle was THAT loose this morning and the stuff out back in THAT much of a state at entrance to garden.....probably just having a bit of an "anxious" hour or two...not unknown chez ceridwen....and NOT evidence someone has had an unsuccesful go at breaking-in and it was money well spent by me on adding a bit of "extra security" in typical poor-quality British doorlock the door originally had.....
I'll stop muttering anxiously in a moment and convince myself thats how things were anyways and NOT a problem......Howsomever...if anyone feels inclined to throw a few mental "lightning bolts" at any visitors of the unwelcome variety chez ceridwen - do feel free....).

Hi,
I have been reading through the thread - and will be trying some of the receipes.
I just have one tip to add for bottle feed babies - try the water in the bottles cold. Not sure on the current advice but I ended up giving LO bottles. What we did was boil water - add to bottles, when LO is hungry add premeasured powder (one of the best things I bought was a tub with three sections in for powder), shake - feed baby.
Makes for a much easier life if out and about etc - my first had over twice the amount of bottles as recommended - so I needed a simple solution - he is now a very skinny 5 year old.
Hope this helps0 -

ok pepys, back from dinner which was lovely. My boss of 9 years is (sob) retiring at the end of the month and this was the team celebration of her going at her house and we all did pot not so luck (ie it was planned!) with yummy curry etc. The above cake was yummy...not like a cake as more dense (no flour) but was delicious - yummy but not too heavy...enjoy - we did!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! hiya ceridwen! so sorry about house anxieties, what a horrible feeling not being sure of possble intruders... I too have the anxious gene, it makes for an interesting life eh? but also I think it makes us conscientious and caring :T:T:T
yep, I knew you were vegetarian rather than vegan, I think I just wrote it a bit clumsily, ie the recipe was vegan and might also be something you'd like, and that you are always a mine of useful linkies!;):o
thanks for the link isom, hope the party went well
fergie did an exciting thing last night and managed to sleep for 7 uninterrupted hours :T:T:T:beer::j:j:j:rotfl::j:beer::D:D:D:D could well be back to waking at 2.30 am tomorrow, but fantastic he managed it today...
I bought the chorizo etc for this nettle thingie yesterday, so I'll go foraging as it's lovely weather. If anyone lives near good crops of wild garlic, the leaves are a lovely salad veg...
