ISOM My buddy - This may be ceridwen being over-cautious - but....errr....I theeenk it may be best for people not to post W.W. recipes online here.....they're a big (presumably wealthy) organisation and arent too happy about it....just a thought.

Maybe 'tis me having gone off for a looksee at that womans "knockoff" W.W. website someone gave a link to somewheres on MSE t'other day - and I've got "bad vibes" going about Mrs "Knockoff's" site - as shes posting up loads of W.W. recipes. Cant quite figure it - presume shes putting it all up for controversy/publicity sake to attract people - then she renames it all and hopes to "make it hers" that way and then go on to make loadsa money. Errrr....my estimate is that she is NOT on a winner on that one:rolleyes:

Sometimes firms do a try-on to tell people they (ie the firm) can do things that legally they wouldnt be able to manage to do IYSWIM - but in the case of that woman - well she's trying to steal W.W. stuff basically. She had nothing to do with inventing the system or those recipes herself - she just wants to grab them herself. (As far as I estimate the legal position in a nutshell =

1.- you invent something then its yours and no-one can stop you using it (but if you dont "take out a patent" on it or equivalent - then someone else can steal it and use it too. However - that wouldnt stop you (the rightful owner) from using it yourself - the thief would just be forcing you to share the profits/kudos from your invention with them.)

    2. you invent something and "patent" it (or the equivalent) - then no-one can steal it off you and you can throw the law at them if they try.
(Mrs W.W. Knockoff is in the second position - as she didnt invent the idea/recipes herself.)

I dont want anyone here to get accidentally "hauled in" to the trouble I think that woman will probably be in at some point with W.W. - just for the sake, in our case, of trying to "help our mates" out with the odd recipe or two from W.W.

<mother hen will stop clucking in concern now.......> (ceridwen believes in protecting her mates/groups shes in.....)

    hiya lightisfading,

apparently the formula for working out points is:

    1. Look at the food item's packaging or lable for nutrional values. Divide the calories by 50.
    2. Divide the total fat grams by 12.
    3. Add the values from Steps One and Two to get "X."
    4. Divide the dietary fiber grams by 5 to get "Y."
    5. "X minus Y" is the point value of the food item. Round up values higher than .5 and round down for values lower than .5.
this is according to ehow if anyone wants to look! as I've referenced them then I think MSE rules on copywrite are fulfilled! (important to watch out for these things auntie ceridwen, I agree! :))

Bashful how exciting:T:T:T:T, midwife care sounds great, and good to do what DF is comfortable with! (did you mean your DF or the babies DF?) Although HB's are low risk and theoretically cheaper by loads for the NHS, not many Primiparae (first time mums) attempt them, and of those that do a much higher percentage transfer to hospital, so if you're a little distance away, then I can kind of see the logic. (it's your first time right? I hope I've remembered that properly :o;) Don't listen to bad stories, it's hard work, but well worth it. I never thought, even in the pushing stage, that I couldn't do it again. :) )

You probably feel fine about it all, but do feel free to post/pm anything you feel uncertain about, sometimes it's easier to ask our most honest vulnerable questions online, cos in real life it's a bit embarrassing!:o:o:o

Top tips: arnica, and calcium/magnesium at a high dose daily at the moment to prepare you, then topical arnica, ibuprofen gel and sudocrem and a bag of frozen peas all handy at home ready for applying in phases to your, ahem.... undercarriage....:D

poor isom, I'm afraid I was faffing around trying to make sure fergie had the right number of nappies clean and dry, so the nettling adventure never quite happened, but hopefully today I shall stride out and we can road test that recipe! I've cooked the celeriac, onion, chorizo, tomatoes olive oil and chick peas in readiness....

The boot sale was great though.... Lots of bargains for babies.... Fergie was given lots of outfits up to 6 months, but he'll run out of those, so I was keeping my eyes peeled for sleepsuits/babygros. One woman was stubbornly refusing to come down from £6 for a monsoon dress, so I said to ISOM I'd buy her a donut if she'd get it for me for £1.50 :money::money::money: she's better at haggling than me... seems to use a technique that involves laughing whilst saying ourageous things, it's brilliant!

    Hello everyone

Long time lurker here and many congratulations on the birth of your baby Weezl. When my darling boy was born a long 11 years ago I was like a deer in the headlights and didn't even know I was meant to enjoy it until he was 5 months old. Very sad!

Anyway, can anyone please direct me to the no knead bread? I've had a search but being a total technophobe (Source: the guys over on the Techie board) I'm rubbish at searching.

    Happy Sunday one and all

I think the odd one or two literally ISOM - as I understand it - and as long as we reference it. Just didnt want anyone inadvertently posting them wholesale:D - and I'm a bit more "nervous" about BIG organisations like Weight Watchers (feels queasy thinking about JUST how much money = "firepower" - they probably have behind them). I guess the clue to this is that on many of these cookery websites that cookbook writers have and the like - they post a handful of recipes to tempt people into buying their cookbook (but dont post whole wadges of recipes) IYSWIM.;)

But - to clarify - my "take" on the law is that we dont stop "owning" some inventions/ideas/recipes of our own just because we've shared them publically. So - do feel free to share any weightwatching recipes you've devised yourself ISOM - without worrying you might "lose ownership" of them...

You could try YouTube and just input "No-Knead Bread Baking" for a how-to clip.

Hi there, just popped back to give you another recipe which fits well into the new challenge......

    Pasta Primafrugalista

    1x 500g bag penne pasta 43p
1 jar asda olives stuffed with anchovies ( for a vegetarian equivalent, use the garlic or chilli stuffed ones) 82p chopped roughly
500g raw weight onions, chopped 17p
    2 cans chopped tomatoes 66p
3 tablespoons olive oil (from a jar of sun dried tomatoes)

fry the onions in the oil til softened, whilst boiling the pasta in a seperate pan. add the other ingredients to the onions, stir til reduced and thick, and then stir in the pasta til all is coated in the rich tomato goo!

costs 37p per portion, 459 cals per serving Would be lovely with some of your homegrown rocket ceridwen!
