    Hi pagangirl

£40 - phew! Well - my copy was 1p when I bought it recently. The laws of supply and demand I guess. As far as I can tell - I think other firms keep a bit of an eye on Amazon's prices - well...it looks like it to me...as prices seem fairly similar wherever I've looked for books....but you might get lucky. I've had my books through now that I've ordered and - yep - think they are worthwhile and they are totally about growing food indoors. The Self Sufficiency in a Flat one also covers stuff like making one's own dairy products, etc and only has a smallish section on foodgrowing. Guess it depends what one is after information-wise.

Think the other books of hers that you mention will probably be interesting reads.

I wonder whether she is still around - as she was a 1980s writer?

Think I maybe ought to have a another look at it myself. Theres probably a lot of stuff in there we'd find useful .......just print off the pieces I need.

Bit of a tidy up this morning but not much else. Seems colder today even though the heatings on - tempted to put yet another cardigan on !!!
    Really wet and miserable day.
Think I'll grab a chair in the kitchen closest to the radiator and sort out my list of stuff I'm planning to concoct (can hardly call it create) for christmas and birthdays.

Hi folks - Mary you will be proud of me - that storage box by the couch has gone - emptied, chucked, 3 bags of recycling gone this morning - have a few magazines that need reading but can't believe I actually did it, it's been there for so long !!!!:D (Well I've been stuck in with this flippin chest infection so can't do much else)

First book came today - Indoor Kitchen Garden - can't wait to investigate that one. Thanks for mentioning them Ceridawen - I'm sort of spending to save, hopefully! Where on earth did you manage to get the Self Sufficiency book for 1p?????
Is anyone else watching Obama's Inauguration later - I think he will make a great president - just worried as anyone good seems to get assassinated over there. (Keeping fingers crossed he stays ok)

pagangirl - well done:T You put me to shame............all I've done today is finish off something I was making for my sons birthday. I did venture into the spare bedroom (my hoarding area for charity shop buys for pressies) and thought about sorting it all out but it was so cold  I had a change of heart, grabbed another cardigan and came back downstairs !
Then the phone started..........three calls on the trot and all needed dealing with..............so, top of the desk is still a mess, still have pile of picture frames to sort through and re-frame a few things -trouble is they're behind something and its a case of 'out of sight out of mind'.............could have done those today or at least made a start:mad:
Really must do myself some sort of timetable and stick to it.

    Take care.

I'm a great advocate of spending to save personally. I got that Self Sufficiency book from Amazon (1p and postage). They mark down unwanted books to that price it seems just to get rid of them - at that time it was unwanted category - it sorta seems to have become rather more popular subsequently:cool:

Been at work today anyway as per usual - and, not having a t.v. anyways - 'tis more difficult - so has Obama been "done" yet? (ie he's now IT)? Well at least they are obviously well aware that Obama is likely to be even more of a target than yer average US president. Lets keep our fingers crossed that he survives okay - and does even half of what the world is hoping for. At least he seems to recognise the extent of the situation we are all now in - acknowledging the scale of a problem is the first necessary step to getting a grip on it and trying to solve it.

I was lucky to watch the Inauguration on TV as I'm off sick - Obama is a really powerful speaker - good luck to him coz he's really gonna need it !

Can anyone explain why, when Royal Mail has just made a profit of £250 million - they are putting up the price of stamps yet again. What I want to know is what they plan to do with this £250 million - watch this space, they'll be crying poverty again before long.

pagangirl - didn't know that about Royal Mail !!!!!!! and the price of stamps going up..........
One of my promises to myself this year (won't call it a resolution else I'll break it.......lol) was to write letters to people more often, been doing two a week - more personal and cheaper than phone call...........well if stamps keep going up it won't be !

Well, done no ''simplifying'' today..........young lad was off school and had a meeting this afternoon - did manage to re-arrange my notebook of christmas presents to make and who for so at least that makes more sense.
    I'll have a better go tomorrow..............hopefully:j

pagangirl - does make you wonder 'whats next ?' Any postal increase hits folk hardest at christmas. Seems things go up and up and up and I can't see how half of them can be justified at all:confused:
