pagangirl - good luck tomorrow at the doctors. My eyes don't seem so bad now as they were - OH had a look and they're not as bloodshot as they were earlier so I'll see what they're like tomorrow. Still go to the doctors though - if it is an infection they can seem to go then come back again, same as colds.
Haven't seen a crochet bag made from plastic bags, just the knitted ones. Having said that as I don't knit or crochet I haven't really looked but on the Special Occassions board further up the page from here there's a thread running on Recycled stuff -think it started off as Recycled Sweaters but all sorts of other stuffs on there and I'm sure there was a plastic bag. Be worth a look.:jMary

... Has anyone got a pattern for crocheting shopping bags from plastic supermarket bags.? ...
Hi pagangirl, I remembered seeing these a long time ago so I googled 'crochet plastic carriers' and came up with loads of results, too many to list really, and it looks like there's several links with instructions... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

pagangirl - after saying that I had to have a look - found the link - it is a crochet one

As rosie says there are more if you google for them.
Daft me - didn't even get the name of the thread right on Special Occassions board - its 'Recycled blankets and other items' (I think.........lol) so there's all sorts of stuff like making leg warmers from sweater sleeves.....thats a must I think !Mary

Delurking briefly to say if you knit plastic bags into small squares they make demon pot scourers/general purpose cleaners. They clean just about everything in no time flat and can go through the washing machine when they need freshening up. No need to buy scourers/dish cloths ever again.0

Hello & thanks to all for such a warm welcome,
sadly i havent done a spot of decluttering todaybut I've decided that my first project will be my bedroom. I'm collecting a chest of drawers tomorrow (ebay & very cheap) so will be sorting through all my clothes & being ruthless.
The photos were meant to be a christmas hols project but I succumbed to a very nasty cold/flu type thing & spent most of the week in bed instead. I was interested to read about sentimental possesions earlier in the thread & am very guilty of that but I'm determined to just keep one item from each loved one that has passed on & probably do as pagangirl suggested & put it away somewhere.
This is hopeless, I'm already contemplating acquiring a box/chest to keep all items in  . Think I need to have a strict ratio of 3 to 1 regarding items leaving/coming in.
I will report back tomorrow when the bedroom is done . . .

Thanks to Mary, Rosieben & Mags50 for the links etc. Did google it and found patterns for both knitted and crotcheted(sp?) shopping bags. Why didn't I think about thatDelurking briefly to say if you knit plastic bags into small squares they make demon pot scourers/general purpose cleaners. How is your eye infection Mary - hope all better - I have an empty shoebox - would you like me to post it to you (knowing how much you love collecting them) :rolleyes:When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

pagangirl - OH had a nasal spray last year -can't remember how much good it did though as he was having other stuff for sinus problems. Good luck for Monday.
I managed to get in to see the Nurse Practitioner - explained how my eye had been and do you know, it didn't even seem to warrant inspection ! She said it might be conjunctivitus !!! Well I've had that and it isn't ! Still she gave me some eye drops to try for 4-5 days - when I got them home it looks like I've got enough for a fortnight at least !! Funnily enough they have been a lot better today so here's hoping I won't need these drops for long. But then what on earth do you do with unused medicines ? Pharmacy won't take them back will they ? Such a waste.
Didn't get much done at all today - builder came and put another coat of paint on the back bedroom wall and did the ceiling while he was at it !!!
No extra charge - just goes to show not everyone has their hand held out:oMary

Glad you are feeling better Mary. I take all my unused and out of date medicines back to the pharmacy. I think they are better disposed of safely than down the drain or in the rubbish bag. They always thank me and haven't given me a funny look yet, but I can't remember where or when I read you are supposed to return them.0 -
Your builder sounds like a genuine guy - makes a nice change knowing not all people are money grabbers! :T
Any chemist will dispose of them - I have done this in the past no problems. Just took 'em in and said they were unused medicines. When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on
