Not sure if that is 100% correct.

    http://www.opsi.gov.uk/legislation/scotland/acts2009/pdf/asp_20090003_en.pdf

In this Act, a “disabled off-street parking order” is an order made under section 35 of the
    1984 Act which––
    (a) provides that an off-street parking place may be used only by a disabled persons’
    vehicle,

Nowhere do is refer to private land and no where does it say that the land owner can 'fine' the driver.

Might be wrong. I've only studied English Law and this was only a passing look at the statute concerned.

Correct. The spaces have to be correctly adopted into the scheme and correctly signed. Enforcement is by traffic wardens etc and not by the cowboys. This has led to a nightmare for the councils as they cannot afford to signpost and enforce it. It has also meant that private disabled bays are no longer for that person only, anyone with a blue badge can use them.

As far as I'm aware, "private" disabled bays outside people's homes have always been free for anyone with a blue badge to use.

Something that really annoys me is where blue badge holders park on double yellow lines in dangerous places. There is a reason why the double yellow line is there - not to stop people from parking for free or to provide disabled parking, but because it ain't safe to park there!

To anyone that gets a ticket for parking in a handicap space..
PAY YOUR FINE and don't park there again. You deserve to be ticketed.
I am a badge holder and many time can't find a space because people like you are in it. Even if someone is waiting in the car, there is no way that
you can tell what cars going around the car park need it and the car that does shouldn't have to stop behind you to tell you to MOVE IT! I can't believe that you would even consider trying to get you ticket fine back.
Just goes to show you how inconsiderate people can be and not think of what this does to people who need those spaces. Maybe I'll come to your house and park in your drive.......just for a minute or until you come home and need it. You can just get out of your car and walk to tell me you need the space.

So, you think that supermarkets should discriminate against disabled people who don't have blue badges?

You have no idea whether or not people are "entitled" to use disabled bays in private car parks, just by looking at them and their cars.

Disabled persons with (or without:rolleyes:) blue badge who park in dangerous places are subject to fine by traffic wardens. If it is a regular offender who bugs you, I suggest you report it to your local council.

You may be genuine but there are thousands out there who aren't. This is the problem. Can each badge holder honestly say that they can't walk an extra 30 feet to the shop door. I bet you that if there was £50 to be had they could.

I am not saying that there aren't genuine blue badge holders out there, but sadly they are in the minority!!!

It is not so easy (to qualify for a blue badge) as you seem to think. Can you honestly claim that it is a problem for you if there are a few who abuse the system?

Each badge has a number and you can report anyone who you see abusing the system.

    It isn't 'a few' - it's massive.

Yeah, you can report as much as you want but no civil servant will ever take a badge off anyone - they run to their lawyer and cry Human Rights!!

Can provide any evidence to support your bigoted point of view?

    I do not believe

Each holder has to be assessed by a doctor. Anyone who is found to be abusing the rules, for example allowing a healthy person to use their badge risks losing their badge and quite severe penalties.

In a perfect world, but in reality it is probably the most abused benefit at the moment!

You may be right, but can show me any evidence to support the assertion that the majority of blue badge holders are cheats?
